"Invaders came to the island a long time ago. They slew many and then escaped in their boats. Avalon's ancestor cast a spell with a white pearl so that is one steps on the sand of the beaches of Varahara, they must stay there forever, or they can leave if they hold a black pearl. If they don't have a pearl in their possession, they'll get as far as the tree over there." Westly said, pointing a paw at the twisted trunk of an ancient oak.

He listened to the stories. Yes a black pearl he had been searching for one for many a year now with no luck. "Well what ever the case is, I want in. I want to join your crew and help find this Black Pearl." He stamped a foot on the ground causing some sand to jump up. "I may not look like much, but I assure you I am more than that."

"It's up to Hazel, she's the one who wants to leave Varahara the most." Avalon shrugged.

Hazel was never the best at judging the character of others but she knew something was strange about this Ledgend. Black pearls were a rare occurrence and were often found in the deadliest of places. She glanced at them all in turn and the let her gaze fall on Avalon as she spoke " That's fine, but like all spells there has to Ben some limitations, and a kill switch no matter how eternal...." she let her words soak into the air for a moment." And what happens if one tries to pass this point of the beach?" She asked with testing glare her eyes still locked on Avalon.

"You try boating, and you'll never get further than the tree, no matter how hard you try. If you swim, you can't get further than the tree, no matter how long you swim. If you try to fly, well, you get the idea." Westly said.
"And Westly would know, he's tried them all." Avalon piped up. "And you can't magic yourself out either. I've tried that."

She flattened her ears and glared at her paws thinking a bit. Just then she noticed the sun was setting and it would be dark soon, but it seemed as if the day had only begun. She stared out at her boat for a moment that would just have to wate until later. " Eden, do you know a place I could take up stay for a while? " she asked turning to him.

"Well we have an inn in the next town that is bound to have rooms for rent you could stay there. That's were I will be staying." He answered sitting with his tail wrapped about his front legs.

"You could stay at Granddad's hotel! It's in the forest near here!" Westly said.

Assuming they spoke of the same place she smirked and gave a stif nod " Aye, any who hope to adventure farther than the beach, and aren't creating the loss of life or limb..... met yer' Captin on deck when the high moon lights the sails." She said standing up and wagging her stubby tail a bit Oh and don't get caught I have a feeling many Folk won't be pleased with the likings of this" she said still offering her kind smile.

Westly and Ava led Eden and Hazel towards the forest. when they got through the trees, a huge treehotel came into view. An old Zolnixi was pottering around the garden at the foot of the large tree trunk. Westly's Grandfather's ears pricked up when he heard their pawsteps.


"Westlerson? Is that you?" he croaked.
"Yes Grandfather."
"Did you bring friends?"
"Yes Grandfather. This is Hazel and you remember Eden. They're staying in the Treehotel tonight."
"Okay, just tell them not to touch the Black Water." Grandfather said, turning to face the group with his unseeing eyes.
