What's with this "bump" thing? Like, I know it's a way to get your thread to the top, but is it used for anything else?

I think this might be a bit late (and I'm not just answering for a pet btw) but to answer your question, 'Bump' is some sort of acronym. I forget what it stands for, but people use the bump thing to get their page at the top, like you said. Using bump makes it easier for people to notice your page since it pops up on the 'recent' list or whatever it's called.
