Every year, locals warn visitors to Haven Point to never drive along the lonely, desolate stretch of road bordering the coastline after dark. And if they must, to always be sure to keep their eyes fixed straight ahead, and to turn the radio up loud enough to drown out any noise from outside the vehicle. Every year, at least one person scoffs at the ridiculous superstition, and sets out to prove that they're brave enough to disprove it. Even more frequently, people pay the warning no mind at all. They assume that everyone who ever disappeared in that area was just a careless driver, who either fell asleep at the wheel or failed to navigate a sharp turn and ended up going over the cliff.
The legend goes that 300 ago there was a bride who flung herself into the sea in despair after her soon to be husband was killed in a carriage accident on his way to the church.
Most people who know the tale believe she is a wraith whose spirit is bound to the earth by the tragedy of her death. Among a few it is rumoured that she still has a physical form, that she was changed into something else not quite human by unknown powers deep beneath the sea. No one knows for certain, because anyone who hears her mournful wails or gets close enough to look into her tear-stained face is never seen or heard from again, doomed to follow her back to her watery grave.
