Dark eyes flicker back at the growl. Sastrugi holds Tiamat's eyes for a second, assessing the nature of the warning, before she turns back to the official who tips her head in allowance before answering, "It's best if you ask the queen. She's with Princess Gyrfalcon right now."
Sastrugi bows in thanks and says as much before turning back towards the Hakaishin and Tiamat. "In that case," she says, "I suppose you'll be seeing the interior of the palace as well." She takes off in a beat of powerful wings.
The trio passes through guards and the castle's vaulted gateway before arriving outside of the hearing chambers. Satrugi informs the a worker of their purpose, waiting for the other to step inside before she says, "When you introduce yourselves, state your names and bow. You can explain your purpose after being acknowledged."
The IceWings returns, announcing, "Queen Halcyon will see you now." Four members of the royal family wait inside, far from the official's stated queen and princess.

He smiled and nodded, grinning knowingly at the scavenger, who smirked back. Seems like they had a plan in mind.

Warning given, Sastrugi enters. She dips in a well-practiced bend of her head and wing, swinging back up as the two enter. Hopefully they don't embarrass her here.

Tiamat leaned down so Hakaishin could slide off before lowering his head in respect. Once the group were in front of the royals, he bowed politely.
Then all of the dragons, excluding Tiamat, were stunned as Hakaishin lowered his head in respect just like Tiamat before falling to one knee and bowing politely. This. . . This is weird. Good, yes, but very weird.

The queen peers at the two in front of her, dark eyes gleaming from the glow of animus-touched snow-baubles. "I welcome you to the Kingdom of Ice," she says. "If you will, what drove you here, to live among the ice and snow?"
The pair of princesses sitting nearby are poised, wings pressed close, spines straight, and tails artfully arranged. One, smaller, with the colors of an aurora wreathing her eyes, wings, body in speckled glory, has tablets of ice stacked in front of her. The other, Gyrfalcon, has eyes sharpened by shadowed streaks of shimmering blue and a muscular body emphasized by the same ice-carved shadows. Tablets sit in front of her too, yet they're accompanied by scrolls and maps.
Neither show surprise, are trained not to, though Gyrfalcon's expression has the suggestion of approval.

Tiamat smiled kindly at the royals. *we do not settle down anywhere, your Majesty. We simply travel as the water and winds guide us, and meet new people. We do not wish to be a disruption to your kingdom. We just wish to pass through, although if you tell us to stay, we will not object.*
Hakaishin smirked at Tiamat and the dragon rolled his eyes and chuckled. *fine, Hakaishin. Go ahead.*
Then what happened next blew the dragons minds and despite all the training they had, they all visibly showed varied amounts of shock.
Hakaishin spoke. And not broken, guttural speaking. True, crisp, clear, and firm speaking.
*greetings, your majesty, and other royals of your beautiful kingdom of frost and snow. As stated by my best freind here, we simply wish to pass through because someone has no idea where were going.*
Tiamat smacked him with a paw and Hakaishin ducked under it, chuckling. He then grew serious and turned to the royals. *humor aside, we are simple travelers and explorers, charting out the lands and oceans of the continent and living our lives in peace. After all, who would take in the most powerful, strange, and mutant Seawing alive, alongside his rider, the only human - apologies, you know us as scavengers - capable of speaking your language?*
Tiamat nodded and smiled. *exactly. However, if you command us to stay, we will do so, provided we are able to feed and warm ourselves.*
. . . They were just shocked by the biggest and buffest Seawing they have ever seen and a talking scavenger.
Who are these two?!

(ahh, let's go, the speaking has arrived! writing the reactions was a blast haha)
Green-sprinkled claws clench around a carving-pen in a snap of wood, and the second princess blushes dark blue in mortification.
No one is of the right mind to reprimand her, having heard a scavenger, a human, speak. Elegantly at that with better articulation than some of the members of the court, born and raised.
After a long moment, the queen lets his wings fall from their recoiled position, having recollected herself. "We are glad to give those who carry themselves courtesy travel through our lands," she says, a formal allowance in and of itself.
Sastrugi has frozen, body entirely still as she watches the proceedings, even as the other IceWings return to life. Allowance given, the queen returns to her duties with the offer of a guide, if ever desired.
Princess Gyrfalcon eyes are wide and her expression softened by shock, but she's quick to stride over, claws passing a royal token over to the duo. "If you ever encounter trouble on your sojourns," she says, "you may use this to continue unbarred."
"In the meantime, though, perhaps you would be interested in staying a night? There's a hunt upcoming, and I'm sure both of your skills could impress."
Sastrugi blinks awake, scarcely thinking before she cuts in. "I can show you around until then," she says, "and help you prepare for the celebrations if you're interested."

The duo grinned at each other as the dragons were frozen in shock, chuckling a bit. Obviously this amused them greatly.
When the queen addressed them, the two bowed and thanked her clearly. When Gurfalcon walked over, Tiamat took the royal token and passed it to Hakaishin, who slipped it into a saddlebag attached to the saddle on Tiamats back. He then turned to Gyrfalcon. *thank you, Your Highness. We will not forget this gift.* then he grinned at the mention of a hunt. He turned to Hakaishin. *what do you think?*
Hakaishin grinned and turned to the princess. *were in.*
Tiamat chuckled. *simple and to the point. Always the same with you.* he then turned to Sastrugi. *and we would be honored for a tour and to help with the preparations. Thank you all for your hospitality.*
Hakaishin nodded, smiling. *yes, thank you all. We will find a way to repay your kindness to us, we swear it.*
Yep. Talking scavenger is still weird.

Farewells made, Sastrugi guides the duo outside. A little hasty perhaps, but she wants to leave and she wants to speak.
"Where did you learn our language?" she asks, the group's reflections dancing in the walls. "Was it something you and Tiamat shared during your travels together?" Curiosity is burning in her belly, flame-like and dangerous. Still, even if she shouldn't show her surprise so easily, this is certainly an exception.

The duo looked at each other and burst out laughing. Hakaishin fell to the ground and rolled around, laughing his butt off.
Tiamat shook his head, chuckling. *I taught myself all the languages thanks to a book I brought with me on my travels. As for Hakaishin? He taught himself with the same book. *He can read and write! He can fight! He can ride and fly! This guy is tiny dragon himself!*
