Beas eyes glanced off to the side, where she saw a Trapinch beginning to burrow in the ground. It felt like a lightbulb went off in her head seeing it, and she knew that would be the Pokmon she caught for the trial.

*same!* she said happily. *what else did you do besides help out as a researcher? i practiced some martial arts against... i think the three Hitmon pokemon. im pretty sure my dad trained them, but i dont remember why.* She then looked around curiously, before grinning as she noticed something.

A Gible, hanging out in a rocky den. Oh, thats her catching Pokmon.

(hey, so were in the past. does that make Fossil Pokemon and Hisuian Forms fair game to catch? i really want Hisuian Zorauk. also, i just decided to give Bri a background in martial arts so she doesnt get curbstomped if she throws hands with a Shinx.)

(Were only around 100-200 years in the past, the fossil Pokmon are more like millions of years ago, but maybe in a space-time rift we can find some eventually, and Ill let regional varients be free reign for this)

*I remember doing a lot of studying. I was a good student back in school I didnt go out much, but I remember having to be sneaky with my work. Scaring wild Pokmon during observations was bad and I also remember doing a lot of jumping and climbing I think I did parkour?* she tried to recall. She remembering doing a lot of ducking and rolling, and climbing trees to get to better viewpoints. She could remember running through back alleys and jumping from place to place to get out of trouble in the city.

Bea stealthily made her way towards the Trapinch, paying attention to misplaced dirt that could lead to a trapinchs pitfall or anything that could make a noise to give away her position. The Trapinch appeared to still be digging its burrow.

While Trapinches were rare, they were still native to the unova region, and Bea could faintly recall studying a few, she knew the best ways to go about catching one.

She crept up from behind, knowing it wouldnt be able to see her from her angle, then threw a pokeball, hitting it square in the back of the head. The ball shook a few times before the Pokmon broke free, now aware of Beas presence. It clacked its jaws angrily as it charged towards her on stubby legs, but due to its small size and slow speed, she was easily able to tip it over onto its back. Due to the wright of its head, it was effectively immobilized, as it couldnt get up.

*Alright, mudkip, use water gun!* she instructed her partner beside her. Mudkip let out a stream of water, directly hitting the Trapinch. This time when Bea threw the pokeball, the Trapinch didnt break out, and it was caught with a click

she smiled and walked over to the Gible, quiet and slow. she looked around for anything nearby, and went it shifted around she froze. then it settled and she yeeted the ball at the mons forehead, suprising it. the ball rocked a bit, but easily caught due to its sleepiness. Bri grinned and picked it up, smiling. *awesome!* she said happily, looking around for a pokemon to punt into the su- um, i mean, to battle and faint. yeah.

(Actually, hold on. Now that I think about it, having a pseudo-legend at the very beginning would be super OP. So how about something else like . . . A Noibat? I love that guy, and I got a great nickname for it when it becomes a Noiverm! So, can the Gible be a Noibat instead, to be fair to the adventure?)

Bea let her new Trapinch out of its ball. As soon as it was out, it immediately turned and tried to snap at her, all she could do to protect herself was put a hand on its jaws to hold it away. *Im so sorry! I didnt mean to upset you, but I really hope we can be friends, youre a really cute little Pokmon, Id like to work together with you* she hoped her feelings would get through to it. Even though the Trapinch calmed down slightly and wasnt immediately trying to take her fingers off, it still seemed unhappy at its situation.

*Well work on this, I promise Ill get you plenty of food later, then maybe youll trust me a little more* Bea sighed as she returned it to its ball. The mudkip at her side seemed a bit concerned, but Bea just patted it reassuringly. *Dont worry, Im sure Trapinch will warm up to us, hes just new, and probably scared* She lifted mudkip into her arms.

*Now, lets go show these wild Pokmon who the toughest little water type around is* She cooed to the mudkip, letting it back down to the ground. It didnt take long for a wild geodude to take the initiative to attack, hurling a few rock and ground type moves at both Pokmon and trainer, but luckily with a few super effective water guns, the pair was able to remain mostly unscathed. Mudkip had taken a small amount of damage while Bea had obtained a few scratches and injuries that would likely bruise, but nothing too serious.

*We did it, mudkip! We passed our exam! Lets go find Brianna to see how shes doing now* She beamed, letting mudkip leap into her open arms.

(I wouldnt say gible is too op, since legends is pretty difficult and our Pokmon probably wont be evolving for a while I think its a perfectly fine choice, but if noibat is what you desire, then go for it)

(im going with Noibat, i loved the little guy in the Kalos Anime and i have a PERFECT name for it. but maybe ill get a Metagross or something later. thanks!

also, im giving Bri an attribute a few people have in the Pokemon universe, just to make things interesting.)

Bri smiled and checked on the Noibat... and it was sleeping. she giggled and returned it to its ball before looking for a pokemon.

she sent out her Bulbasaur to lead, but got suprised attacked by a Linoone. she yelped and jumped to the side, with her poor Bulbasaur getting easily knocked out. she stared at her fallen freind for a moment, before turning and glaring. then she took a fighting stance as a blue glow surrounded her.

she had Aura. like Lucario.

she then battled the Linoone herself, grappling it, throwing it, and fighting like a Machoke but MUCH faster. after a swift roundhouse kick to the gut, the Linoone fell before rising and running off, beaten.

Bri watched before falling to her knees and passing clean out, bumping Noibats ball. the tiny pokemon yawned and woke up, before seeing a human passed out on the floor. it then began sending out a distress signal, letting anyone nearby know that something was wrong, including Bea and the survey corp guards.

(im giving her aura only for times of extreme anger or when she needs it most. i think its fair game since people like Riley and Ash can use Aura, and Ash can use Aura Sphere is the pictures from Google are right.)

Hearing the cry, Bea and her Mudkip immediately ran over to the scene. Bea looked at the noibat, then at bulbasaur, then at the noibat. Bea immediately ran to Bris side, attempting to wake her up. *Bri! Hey, are you alright? You gotta get up, cmon, we cant risk you failing this exam* Bea examined her for any sign of noticeable injury. She didnt know if Bri getting knocked out would mean she fails the challenge, she supposed as long as Brianna completed her other tasks, she would still pass, but she didnt want to take that risk.

*Bri, Bea? Is something wrong? We heard a noise* Meilins sweet voice called out as she and a few guard approached.

*Uh, I I think were okay* Bea responded, hoping her nervousness wasnt obvious to the captains assistant


(Yeah Aura is fine, but maybe we should keep physically fighting Pokmon to a self defense level? Like you should fight it not to beat it but to escape from it and not just beat it up bc it kinda just feels like graphic animal abuse at that point lol)

"Bri! What happened?" Bea asked quietly, thankful the girl woke up just as Meilin was on the scene.

"Oh dear, you must've encountered a scary pokemon. Are you badly injured? If something is truly wrong, I'm sure we could pause the trial... if the captain allows us to... erk, probably not, but you two are a unique situation so maybe she would allow it" Meilin began murmuring to herself.

One of the medical team members began going over to examine Briana, trying to figure out what happened. "Miss, can you tell us what happened? Was this an attack or a preexisting medical condition" He asked.
