Mathias slowed to a trot, and then to a halt beside her. The fur on his back bristled for a second, and then his eyes flashed and went glassy aso they did yesterday.

Amy couldn't more her body was starting to freeze. She struggled to heat up her body temperature but it failed. The gem fell.

Mathias picked up the stone In one hand, and put his other hand on her shoulder. "Please, let this work," he whispered, bowing his head. He recited a phrase he had learned from... where did he learn it? It had never been there before. He had never even heard of anything similar to it before. He dismissed the thought and finished reciting. The ice began to melt.

Amy collapsed onto the floor gasping for breath. Her body was ice cold but she wasn't freezing anymore.
