"I figured it was commen sense with Skipper being Navy and his die hard attitude." Selkie smiled a little.
Seaweed nodded in agreement.

"Selkie, need I remind you I have limited knowledge of seafaring? Besides, lokho engaziwa ngeke kumbulale*," He said with a wink.

(*That translates roughly to "What he doesn't know won't kill him.")

Selkie nodded, "Time to start learning then," Selkie pointed out various crew memebers and told them their jobs, "I am now cabinboy though the lowest of the low rank."

"So, it's a hierarchy, then?" Kal observed, nodding in understanding.

"Pretty much the captain is the one in charge. Doctor has no rank for reasons. First mate is second in command second mate third and so on and so on." Selkie explained, "The cabinboy is normally the youngests member on the ship or is someone being punished for one reason or another."

Kaladin silently wondered which of the two categories Selkie fell into. Otherwise, the otter was doing a good job explaining, and the echidna said so.

"Thank you. Rescues are unranked until they find work on the ship just in case you were wondering. Stowaways and castaways are normally treated as prisoners or slaves if they are lucky." Selkie went on.

Kal nodded. "Speaking of rescues...." He jerked his head to where Locke was still out cold. "I should ask now so I won't have to scold you later, but you already have a plan, don't you?"

"I don't plan on messing with him unless he starts it and I don't want him knowing I am a stormcaller." Selkie told Kaladin his plan.

"Ah. Makes sense." Kaladin acknowledged.
