Austyn sucks in a breath, expression already showing a negative answer. "Any other given time on any other day, I would love to, mate. However, today just isn't our lucky day as the food place got shut down since the Skulls were getting rowdy again. The place is right there, just can't do anything about it today." Austyn points Oras in the direction.

The inmates were separated into different units that occupied various sections of the courtyard. Like oil and water, each group seemed repelled from every other, never straying into enemy territory. Some milled around like packs of dogs, looking for any sign of weakness. Others sat at the scattered tables arm wrestling and playing cards.

There was even a group of younger inmates playing tag, yelling in excitement as they chased one another around the yard, avoiding the bigger kids. They were kids who should have been tearing across the school playground between lessons, or on their way home to a hot meal and a loving family. Some looked like they were ten years old, for Christs sake--they never even had a chance to enjoy being young.

"New fish? No offencse but I think surviving two years in this hell without getting tossed in the Hole means something. ANd don't even think about hitting on Astra or you'll potentially fare quite badly, we're the ones keeping your cell doors from breaking."

There was a sound of running water coming from Nicote's cell. "You can't tell me what to do," Kevin growled.

Aaron was half asleep on her bed. She twisted and turned. She'd wake up every once and a while angry. She was bothered by earlier and it was causing her distress.

Rhia continues to quietly sit by her, seeming happy to do so.

Vic listens to the children laughing outside and a lump began to form in her throat

"Maybe not. But unlike you, I'm not going to become dog chow anytime soon, 100% sure of that."

Lio glanced at the younger kids. Where they had the energy, he didn't know, he did nknow he was starving.

Cole was, of ocurse, entertaining some of the younger ones near the edge of the courtyard. Probalby with stories about growing up in a big family. It wouldn't be surprising.
