Hekera licked her beta's nose playfully. "I wonder where that old fool is now." , She said, speaking of the past alpha. When she exited the den, the last rays of sun but her back. Making her red pelt glow.

Soot trotted after her, taking note of the way the sun shone on her fur. "Probably rotting in a raven's mouth, " he suggested, catching up to her quickly. He smiled at the thought. They had both shared a hatred for the previous alpha.

"I would think he is to low for even a raven." , She said, smiling a little. Hekera shivered, fluffing her coat when a cool wind hit her face. "Let's hope we don't receive a storm." , She said.

Soot brushed up against Hekera to warm her as he glanced at the sky. "Maybe it will hold off for you, " he replied before they continued walking. The beta had only a few thoughts on what Alpha Hekera would want with him, but most of them were outrageous anyway. He probably should just let her direct the conversation to where she wanted it to go. He'd improvise from there.

"Maybe..." , She chuckled. "You seem oddly quiet." . She began to jump down the rocky slope to her den, seemingly gracefully. "But, you always are. I was thinking of gathering a council for the pack." , She paused, waiting for the beta. "It could be just the two of us, or the leaders of our lifeline ranks. It would make us stronger and smarter." , Hekera explained, tail lashing back and forth.

Soot grinned at her, leaping down the slope until he stood next to her. "That would be reasonable, " he mused. "Having everyone collaborate together would make the pack run smoother, too. " The beta took a moment to think it over. He nodded, satisfied that there were no drastic downsides to this plan. "It would work out well, Hekera. "

"Keeping them in line helps maintain order, " he responded. "Without order, we would not survive. " The strong muscled beta kept with her pace, overlooking the path they were taking. "As the Alpha of this pack, you must do what you deem right. "

Soot gave her a dry smile. "I do the best I can. " His gaze turned towards her, a little amused at her actions. Just a couple of minutes ago, she was making him submit to her. That's an Alpha for you, he thought to himself.
