The two sprinted off, reaching the edge of the forest, panting. Em weaved through the trees. "Kat, can you hear me?"

I run after her. My eyes begin to glow red at the thrill of the hunt, but then I see Rex out of the corner of my eye bounding after us with excitement and my gaze fades back to icy blue. I am so surprised that I shift back into human form, tumbling to the ground. I sit up and Rex leaps into my lap and starts licking my face. I grin and laugh at his silly antics.
