Soot strode into the den, dipping his head to Hekera once more. "I saw a male rogue with a black pelt carrying a very young pup. He was in a threatening stance, looming over Blue. I attacked him and she ran away, " he said, curling his lip at Blue. "When she came back, she stepped between me and the rogue male. He saw his opportunity and fled. When I confronted this cowardly zeta, she told me how she wanted to supply the camp with more pups for future generations of the Pack." With a meaningful glance to Hekera and Blue, he added: "Though I don't see why we can't do that ourselves."

Blue stood up and stepped away from Soot. She nearly growled at him but stopped herself. She looked away like before.

"I see both of your points..." , She said, stalking up to spot and pressing a paw into the top of his head, making Soot bow. "But more wolves make it easier to kill adversaries." , Hekera growled into his ear. She turned to the Zeta. "Never stand up for a wolf in our territory without my consent again..." .

The black and white male willing bowed deeper, flattening his ears in submission. "Of course, Alpha Hekera, " he replied. It would be best to keep her temper low for now.

She nodded to the male before turning back to the young female. "You may leave." , Hekera said cooly. "You will be eating last tonight as punishment." .

She quietly left. She didnt much care about the punishment though. She already ate last most nights. She went to her den to wait.

Soot remained in his position, still waiting for orders from Hekera. He had heard Blue's frantic paw steps out of the den. The alpha must be in a good mood if she gave out this punishment. That was good news. It made him relax just a little bit.

"Care to walk with me?" , Hekera said, using her paw to lift Soot's chin. "It is the day before I became alpha after all, my dear." . A sweet but menacing tone came in her voice as she spoke.

"I would have no reason not to, " Soot replied with a cool expression. "I could think of no better way to spend my time. " It was true. It wasn't like he was going to go to sleep anyway. He would have stayed up to guard the camp if Hekera hadn't invited him. Still, he caught on to her malicious tone. If he was wary or nervous, he certainly didn't show it.
