Mother Bear
Once upon a time there was a bear. She was brown, like any other bear. But she had a majestic blue shimmer that seemed to show she was sent down from the spirits. This bear lived in a wood nearby a village. This village was harsh, and very cruel. One of the men had a daughter he did not want, which he cast out into the woods as a newborn to die..
But the bear found her, and took her in as her own. She raised her to be a lady, but full-hearted and pure. The girl's sad past never haunted her, for the mother bear's presence seemed to discard all evil. As she grew, she gave her mother a name, Melina. On the girl's 17th birthday, she met a man in the wood with whom she fell in love. She led this man through the forest, showing him all the beautiful things her mother bear shown her.
When the girl brought him to her mother, he attacked her, for he was a hunter. The girl's love and distress gave her the courage to shield her mother from his bow. This blow killed her, but her mother, the spirit bear, then revealed her true form. Seeing this girl was just as selfless and full of love as she had hoped, she shifted into her human form and healed her daughter.
When the girl awakened, she found herself face to face with the spirit princess who had adopted the name Melina, given to her by her daughter. Knowing his mistake, the hunter begged for his forgiveness, which he received. With their challenges faced, Melina gave the village peace, and the small family was welcomed into it with gracious arms. The end!
