just as you reach the platform, and the ladder is drawn up behind you, a band of people with similar traits to the others, with the same white hair, yellow eyes and long ears, except their skin is bright red like fire, and the one in the lead has orange war paint on their face.

seeing you in the tree, the red woman roars something at annamet in their language, shaking her spear at everyone in the trees. "duck" annamet growls, reaching for her own spear.

I ducked my head like she said and wonder who they are on the ground.

"hand over the human" the red one snarls, gesturing at you. annamet hisses, ears pressed back and fangs bared. "no" she refuses, subtling adjusting her grip on her spear. "don't be like this, anna" the red one growls, hurling her spear between you and annamet.

My eyes widen as the spear went in between Annamet and I. I don't know what came over me but I attempted to grabbed it before it went out of my sights.

annamet grabs your hand at the last minute, stopping you. "don't. it will shred your hand" she warns, you realize it's barbed with the spikes facing the thrower, so that if you try to grab it it will shred the palms of your hand.


turning back to the red woman she growls something in her language, earning an enraged howl from the red woman. "you do NOT put my name in your mouth" annamet finishes, hoisting her own spear and javelining it at her. you think it's going to hit her square in the shoulder, but she twists to the side at the waist and it lands in the dirt where her shoulder would have been.

"Why are they after me?" I asked her.

"your arrival must have been foretold by their seer, i should have known" she growls, accepting the spear handed to her by the person next to her. "come on, annamet, don't be like this" she says sarcastically, reaching for one of the small canisters on her belt.

"maybe if you go talk to her we could work something out" she mumbles, just loud enough for you to hear, before intercepting a canister thrown by the red woman. it lands on the grass, bursting into a cloud of yellow dust.

"What is that?" I asked her.

"it's dust, mostly. but it also got some pollen from a local fruit that makes your eyes tear up and makes you cough. maybe if we go talk to her she'll stop throwing them" annamet growls angrily, deflecting another one. this one lands closer to the red woman, who takes a few steps back, still grinning.

"Okay but why do you not like her?" I asked her.
