Have you ever read Epic Order of the 7, Wingfeather Saga, or Prince Warriors? Of you like Brian Davis' works, you might enjoy those as well.

My brother reads the Prince Warriors, but I just considered it a rip-off of the Door Within series

I've never read the Door Within, so I wouldn't know XD
That said, Epic Order of the 7 (Or The Amazing Tales of Max and Liz, as the first two go by.) are good reads is you like talking animals, adventure, and a healthy dose of Bible and history. They're a bit long, but if you've read Brian Daivs's books, that shouldn't be an issue.
Wingfeather Saga has a very light and cheery writing style with a nice array of quirky characthers and just the right balance of action and humor. The author is a Christian songwriter, Andrew Peterson, so the seris itself has a few bibical themes to it.

Okay! I'll check them out! The Door Within is basically the same as the Prince Warriors (from what I heard) except it came before Prince Warriors. Have you read the Incredible Worlds of Wally McDoogle by Bill Myers? It is an absolutely hilarious series, I mean your-sides-are-still-sore-the-next-week funny and contains Bible verses and truths
