Sterling and Samara were sitting near the river on their property. Sterling was holding their pet cat while Samara was skipping rocks across the surface of the water with extreme accuracy. Sterling had been hearing news about The Selection and was wondering if anyone she knew would be picked.

Aarushi was sitting by her dog, Papy. She had been thinking about the invitations. One of the big things she had been thinking about was if she would be allowed to bring Papy. If she couldnt, she had decided she would have to sneak him in with her.

Later that day, Samara rushed into Sterling's room. Her eyes were wide and she held up two envelopes. "This has to be a mistake!"
"What?" Sterling asked, tilting her head slightly as her sister dropped one envelope in her lap. It had already been opened and inside was a letter.
