I saw the eclipse but not in totality.... more like a Cheshire cat smile eclipse but it was still cool. I had to wear eclipse glasses though but when it got cloudy I was allowed to look at it without the glasses.

It was so crazy how it went dark in minutes. We don't live in the path of totality, but we were in a state that had it at the time. (the travel was so worth it)

I didn't take images, and like Krin said, no image could do it justice anyways.

Yep. Our total journey took about 8 hours. It was 100% worth it; would do again.

We were lucky. Only a little over an hour drive, though traffic added another hour.

Did anyone see or was able to capture the shadow snakes (shadow bands) on the ground right before and after totality? They were really trippy~! Info about them<-- I took video of them but they are very difficult to see so.. >.< But that page has a video against a white car door and you can see them better there.

I was about 30 mins from totality so it wasn't much of a drive and it was a really awesome thing to experience. We wish we had known about this a bit more in advance as there is an old NASA station not far, up in the mountains and we could have seen through telescopes and such. Or at the least, I may have been able to get a filter for my DSLR to get some shots --

But that's okay, because there are tons of talented people who got shots and I could take the time to look at the totality and at the atmosphere around us. A minute or two really goes by quickly. And at least we were able to get some solar glasses since everywhere had been sold out for weeks. Western North Carolina is already a big summer / vacation spot, all our small towns were flooded with people from all over for the event.

I went pretty much across the country to Idaho to see the eclipse and it was totally worth it! The view at the rest stop was gorgeous to begin with, 100 mile view almost all around. I only used a phone camera to take pictures but I captured a few neat affects. The corona wouldn't photograph at all though. It was, however, amazing to watch. We tried to watch the shadow after the totality, but it was too subtle and it didn't show well on the terrain. I'm looking forward to the 2024 eclipse already which will be far more in my area.

I missed out on all of the shadow stuff, didn't even think about any of it. Was just looking at the sky the whole time lol.

And yea, the 2 minutes goes by so fast. It was like an all day affair, yet 98% of the excitement happened in those 2 minutes lol.
