I throw it a cicada to it to get it's attention. IF I do get it's attention, then I put a mouse near it and step back a little.

Its attention was caught, but it TOTALLY ignored the mouse and devoured the cicada, and walked to you, Purring, and was oblivious to the mouse

You realize rusty spotted cats are insectivores.
