She saw a woman walking and smiled warmly to her.

Mulim watched the girl from afar. She is talking to someone. If they lay a finger on that child I will break their hands and shave off their eyebrows. Ah! She is smiling to me! Mulim waved back.

Angel transformed into a bird and floated around town

Fenrir took a deep breath. "Fennie. I need to talk to you. Somewhere. Anywhere. Later. Um--"
he glanced at Vale, who was heading towards the bus. "Alone?"

Fennie shrugged and said "Just go to my house, but I gotta go right now!" She said as he ran into the bus. She waved back at the woman before disappearing into the bus.

Vale watched the sky as she strolled towards the bus. Fenrir was acting particularly odd today. She blinked as the bus suddenly began to leave. She tried to run after it, but it was too fast! Her parents would be infuriated if she missed even a day of school! She darted into the bushes, transformed into a glossy black raven, and leapt into the sky.

Fenrir reached after her. "But Fennie--!" he felt desperate. Another mistake, and she could be placed on the creature hunter's list--just another animal to be taken down! She was in danger! He had to help her!

She darted into the bus and chose a seat near the front. She put her book away and sighed. Visiting her grandparents would be awkward.

Fenrir stared, slumped over, mouth ajar in defeated desperation, as he watched the bus pull away from the stop. He was so captivated that he didn't notice the Vale or the blackbird that soared out of the bushes nearby.
