yeah! I used the last 3 to avoid any double ups... haha, but it turns out i had 2 mums with the last 3 digits being 900, confused me for a little bit :P

Yeah, your method is shorter which is nice, but i'm a bit slow... i made my pets' names to be idiot proof XDD
Only a few days? Heck it took me months to figure what i have now and there's still room for improvement. I might give your one a try next time, it would help to make things shorter :D

It happened to me once too and because of that I was thinking to add last 4 digits instead of 3 digits. lol
But I changed my mind and keep using last 3 digits because honestly speaking, the chance of having pets with same gender, same species, and same last 3 digits is very very low. XP

If you count the first day I think about what kind of naming style should I use, it'd be months too. XD
The first style I came up was "project name".
The second style was "project name + number of traits"
The third style was "project name + number 123456" (I use numbers for both carry and vis)
The fourth style was "project name + the last 3 digits of the parents' ID + number 123456"
The fifth style was "project name + pet's ID + the last 3 digits of the parents' ID + number 123456"
And the most recently one is "project name + pet's ID + the last 3 digits of the parents' ID + number or alphabets"
Let's see what I'll come up next! :p

Haha, yeah, that would be rare, i would'nt use anymore digits :P Can't fit it it.

I went a similar way you did, but letter and number variables didn't really come in, i'm not a really mathematical thinking person :P
I'm content with the naming style i have atm, but i'm happy to try something a little neater ^o^
