On the missions...

Honestly, I've never had problems having enough potions, because the missions I do supply more than enough for what I need to do. I was actually puzzled reading this, wondering why anyone would need to buy potions, when missions give enough rewards of a better level than what you can get in the shops? But if your not doing missions, that would explain everything. Missions will provide you a steady stream of BOTH potions, and higher level armors, which you need to be able to battle effectively, and do the missions. And that's not even mentioning the steady stream of gold the missions can provide.

So, this is what I do, your mileage may vary.

First, you mission pets and your battle pets should be separate. You simply need higher stats to do the higher level missions than you will put on your battle pets, so unless you always do the lower level missions (which won't give you the rewards you need), it's easier to keep them separate.

So, to keep track of who does what, I set aside my first tab in my main first stable for mission pets alone. I know this kind of seems like a waste, but if you do as many missions as I do, it is worth it, believe me. You only have two tabs so far, so I would at the very least put my mission pets in the the first five spaces, so they come up at the top of the drop down list.

So what I have done is either catch, level up or buy pets to level 60 for missions. If you look at my first tab, you will see ALL of them are level 60, without exception. They are all also maxed out on stats and proficiencies for their particular stat, and that one stat alone. As you get to the higher level missions in the Sanctuary, you will need that ONE stat MAXED. Even if your not level 60 yet, you can buy a level 60 pet, and one of the good things about the current pet economy is that level 60 pets can still be had fairly cheap, even 1 gold if you look hard enough. Your main battle pets are level 60 now though, so you should be able to catch them for the price of a couple traps if you want to do it that way. Watch for the rare pet with a natural boost to a particular stat, that can give you a leg up with the missions once he is maxed out.

So in my first tab, all the first line, which are the first five pets in the drop down list when you go to set your missions up, are maxed out for health, and over time I have upgraded their armor to also max out health as much as I can. The second line, the next five on the list, are maxed out for Strength. The next five for Intelligence, then Dexterity, and the last five for Agility. You'll note that a good number are the seasonal Exclusive pets- Griffi, Ryori, Aeridini and Lighira, plus the Nephini. This is because their base stats tend to be slightly higher already, so you get a little extra boost from them. Sometimes it's enough. To start off, I would buy or find at least ONE pet for EACH of these stats, and set the stats and get the armors as best you can to complete as many missions as you can with them. You will be surprised how often you will want more than one pet for each stat. I regularly use 3-4 of one stat at a time, and sometimes use all 5.

So, once you have the pets, you need to level up their stats. I'm sure you have already figured out how to level up their stats and proficiencies, so I won't go into that. For the armors, get the best you can afford, but fill ALL four slots with the best you can afford, making sure that that particular piece bumps the stat you want pumped to the max. Currently, unless you get lucky during a festival and the bosses drop an orange haloed level 60 piece, the best you can generally get are the level 50 orange haloed armors. Well, that's not precisely true... you can run the dungeon and get Mythic red armor rarely from them, but I would use those on your battle pets or sell them for gold. I did use one on one of mine, but really these are probably more than you need. The level 50 orange armors are perfectly adequate. Purple is ok too to start, blue and green if you have to but change them out as quickly as you can.

For comparison, I don't think any of my mission pets has the relevant stat lower than 870. Most pets will be around 850 with the stats all maxed and mostly purple armor with a few orange, which will work for most of the missions. But if you want to max out your earnings, upgrade your armors as you get them, it will definitely make a difference. If you don't have the money to buy the armor you need, stick to the blue and green one and two hour missions till you get enough gold to buy what you need, and once you get your stats up above 870, start doing the gold 12 hour missions when you have time.

For me, I try and maximize the amount of time I am earning with a mission. So when I know I will be on, I'll do shorter missions. At night I'll set the 12 hour missions up as much as possible. I don't know how the mechanism works, but sometimes if your careful you can over a couple of hours get all six available missions set at 12 hours, other times you can only do four. I just do what I can to get those in as often as I can. It is ONLY these gold 12 hour missions that will give you gold armor. The level of the armor is dictated by the level of the mission, so it's only the Sanctuary 12 hour mission that will give you level 50 gold armor. The one in Esior's Haven gives you level 25 armors. The purple six hour missions can give you pruple armor of that level too, which will also be valuable to start. But work your way up to the 12 hour missions. When you get to stats around 870, you'll find you rarely fail a mission (unless you put the wrong pet on that mission, lol) and you can get two boxes for completing the mission instead of just one, so it IS worth maxing the stats as much as you can, as fast as you can.

But really, if you want to get potions and armor for all that, do missions. I accumulate far more potions than I ever use, and have ever since i set up the mission pets to do their thing. I don't think I have done Jinxey's Jamboree more than a handful of times... i just don't like gambling and my luck on those things is really bad. I get most of my income from Missions. It funds my obsession with breeding, lol. I battle some, especially during the festivals, but mostly I do missions and fiddle with the breeding of my pets.

Still, I would agree that the "Heal" function is rediculously underpowered for how long you have to wait for it. Compared to other games I have played especially. But then if you set up your tank properly, it doesn't usually matter too much, only against the tougher bosses is it really a problem.

As far as being able to turn leveling on and off, you can do that with a potion. That doesn't "focus" the experience on the ones that are still leveling that I can tell, but you can turn off the leveling with a potion. I don't really see Krin doing more than that, it would be too much like a short cut I think. Once your main battle party is up to level 60, it doesn't take too long to battle an additional pet up to level, especially during a festival. I routinely level up favorite bred pets this way to switch out some of the starter mission pets I originally used, and it doesn't take too much time. i do cheat and use one level 60 orb to get them up to around level 25 I think. Lower than that they just get creamed unless you stay at frustratingly low level areas.

Festivals are also a good time to look for cheap(er) level 60 pets, as all those old timers catching named pets are usually selling off their extras, often for trap price. Especially if you go into the chat while people are playing and ask for them. The usual going rate for regular rare named pets is usually trap price plus 3k or so, but that varies depending on the person, and sometimes the pet. Exclusives are usually quite a bit more than that, but sometimes you can get them cheap too.

Anyway, hope all this helps, lol... and doesn't end up just confusing you further. If you have further questions about any of this, feel free to message me privately or ping me here.

I did start out doing missions, and had seperate pets for that purpose. I had about half a full tab of stable pets in different areas for that purpose, and I was mostly getting junk items and maybe a few out of battle potions, but no revival or elixirs. The one time I did get an elixir, it was for 200 points and by then, I had hit over 4,000 HP, and the 200 is like a drop in the bucket and doesn't help the battle - so after I got to the second land and missions got cheaper but I kept failing them, I got frustrated and gave up. Since then, the bulk of my monies is coming from Jinxie's Jamboree, and selling the items from randomly entering a land to find battles and do tasks, lol.

Like right now, I BOUGHT the potions I am using for battles, and the rest are way too small to be of any use - especially since you can only use one every other move and only on one pet. SO, I am keeping those for moments when I remember I have them and don't want to wait to keep going.

I am going to jump in on this.

I find the way potions/elixirs are used to be completely usesless, it shouldn't matter which one I buy they both need to be able to be used in battle. They also need to be made cheaper as they are an essential item. I know you are all going to tell me to do missions, the only pets strong enough to do the high level missions are my battle pets, and quite frankly I find the rewards for the missions to not be worth the time they take.

The swarm's in battle are insane, there is no way in the second world I should be facing 3 arch mages in a row.

Gear is insanely hard to find and just as insanely over priced. I realize it is a free market on the trade broker but come on asking 5k for an item only worth 399 is asking to much.

I have followed the guides as best as I can, and have currently respec'd my pets 3 different times. This game started out fun but it is slowly becoming a frustrating not enjoyable chore to play with how things currently work. I totally get this is beta and the site is slowly being re worked but there has got to be something that can be done NOW to make life easier for people who are just getting into Sylestia. At level 38 I shouldn't be struggling to defeat the same level of undead or whatever, it should be a balanced battle, not swayed to the side of the NPC.

All I can tell you both is that, how I play the game, I haven't had to buy potions since I was level twenty or so and just figuring out how to do the whole battle thing. The potions in the shops to me are worthless anyway, the ones you need are the higher level ones you get in the missions. And even then... the highest level potion only gives you 2400 health points, less than a quarter of my tank's health. Still, it's enough to get me through boss battles, if not the arena... that's a whole other question.

You say the system is rigid, well it is. Go with it instead of trying to fight it. The low level missions do give you a ton of relatively useless items, but they also give a steady stream of gold, and an occasional essence and other potions that you can sell if you need to. The higher missions that require a pet fully leveled and with the better armor are the ones that give you the higher level potions you will need in battle. I'm sorry if that doesn't work for your game play, but that is how the game is structured. If you tried to put some of your stats in anything other than ONE area, you will fail the higher level missions. It's that simple. It's a simple math equation, nothing more. The mission requires a certain level in ONE STAT to succeed. It even tells you which stat you need. If you don't have that level, you fail. If you set up your pets properly, you will succeed unless you put the wrong pet up. I could show you my logs... all green success all the way down, and I tend to do a minimum of a dozen or so missions a day, of different lengths. That's not bragging, just saying the system I outlined works. If you don't want to put in the time and effort, and spend a little to get it set up, that is up to you. But don't complain the system is "broken" if you don't follow what people are telling you works.

I remember fumbling and fussing with those chains of frustrating mages and stuff, and I blew through my share of potions at the time. Redoing the way my battle pets were leveled and statted up helped immensely. Being patient and battling weaker opponents for a bit till I was a higher level also helped. Krin has already said things will be different when he revamps the site. For now, deal with the way the game IS rather than rail that it's too difficult. I'm not particularly into battling, and I figured it out. You've gotten good advice. Either use it or find you own way. But claiming the system is "broken" is kind of a cop out. It works the way it is, just not the way you want it to.

I'm sorry, I know that sounds harsh, and I really don't mean to be nasty about it. But honestly, if you don't want to buy potions, do high level missions (the six and twelve hour ones) regularly. Unless you battle 24/7 they will likely offer you all the potions you need. I rarely need to use ANY potion except for battling bosses, during the raids and in the Festival Zones, and if I need more than a couple I'm grumbling under my breath about having to use them. For just battling around, at level 60 you really shouldn't need potions much if at all. Missions provide more than enough for what you need. Same is true of armor. If you don't want to pay for them, do high level missions. I do buy armor occasionally cause I get impatient, but again, I haven't needed to buy them in ages. The 12 hour mission in the Sanctuary provides all I need for my level 60 pets, and when I finally get around to doing the arena, the level 25, 12 hour mission in Essior's haven has provided more than enough armor to equip those pets as well. It can take a while to accumulate exactly the pieces you need, to be sure, but it does provide an excess over time if you do them regularly. And then YOU can be the one charging 5k for the armor you don't need and are selling off.

And might I add... 5k for that armor is what the going rate is, for some of them at least. It's in high demand compared to the supply. This is EXACTLY why I don't like suggested prices. It deflates some things and inflates others. Again, if you don't want to pay that much, do Missions. And run the dungeons when you can, they also tend to drop more of the higher level armors, even if you can't fight the bosses yet.

If I had pets capable of doing the missions you say are so successful I probably would, however I don't, my point is simple as LittleBlackKitten has already stated this set up punishes the heck out of new players. I know Krin is working on it but its not going to stop me from voicing my displeasure at the way the site is set up, or how some things work. I tend to battle a lot its the fastest way for me to level my battle pets up. If I wanted to do a timed mission type thing I would be playing a game on facebook, I typically don't play those games because waiting x amount of hours for whatever is not fun to me. This game it seems is meant to make new players specifically grind through to the supposed God level of 60 when life is magically easier. Why should it take that long for things to be easy? It should be easy to begin with and harder the higher your level is and the farther along you are in the story.

I am not disputing that there is a proven method for getting what you need however the requirements to get those things put the needed gear so far out of reach for new players that it makes playing the game a disappointment instead of being fun and exciting. I also failed to mention that the locking of the bet amounts in jinxies jamboree until whenever is ridiculous, if I want to bet 250 coins in it then I should be able to and it shouldn't in any way be reflected by where I am in the main story as the game is completely separate from the story. I also will say the game is broken if that is how I feel about it, quite frankly I don't care if people agree with me or not.

Minus doing the missions I have followed guides on how to spec my pets, and I have found the best gear I can afford. I am not asking or looking for handouts. I am simply frustrated that in the Umbra Forest world even with all my pets spec'd properly (2 of those pets have since changed) it was a struggle to get through and it shouldn't have been considering I was at the same level or slightly above the creatures I was fighting. Quite frankly if money is so important in this game then it should be more available to make outside of missions and playing the jamboree.

I know I sound whiny and ungrateful but this really is just my opinion, and I really am excited to see the changes that are coming however I needed to get what was bugging me about Sylestia into the open, and also spare my poor wife my comments as she has heard them more than enough. Though if people want to look at my pets and gear and offer suggestions I would totally be open to that.
