Lark sprinted out the door after Yasa. She drew her black sword as she ran. Yasa disappeared ahead of her. When she rounded the corner she saw the Yasa throw himself in front of the beast as it lunged for a boy dressed in black and red. Yasa crumpled to the ground, unconscious. "Yasa!" she yelled charging at the monster. She drove her blade up and under one of it's scales, plunging it into the beasts leg. It screamed in pain and lunged at her to bite her arm. She tried to pull the sword out of it's leg, but it was stuck.

Orion gasped as the boy threw himself in the monsters path. As he fell, he heard a girl's voice yelling "Yasa!" The girl launched herself at the monster. Orion leapt to his feet as the monster opened his jaws to bite her. Orion thrust one of his blades into the roof of the monsters mouth. Only then did he realize, the inside of it's mouth was covered in scales.

Kat: she runs toward them pulling her own blade. she drive it in to the beast's eye. the monster twitches and lays still.

Yasa: he opens his eyes. everything seems so far away. he tries to get up but is only rewarded pain. he looks down at his chest. he has a long gash there that is dripping blood. "help..." he manages to say weakly

Lark stabbed the monster in the chest just in case. She wiped her bloody blade on the grass and sheathed it. She heard someone whisper hope in a tiny voice. She whirled to see Yasa lying on the ground with a long gash on his chest. I ran to his side. "We need to help him. Now!" I said, turning to the others. I ran in the forest to look for herbs. I found one that helped stop bleeding plus some others. I ran back batting branches away.

Orion stood still, shocked even when the girl yelled at him. Some random strangers had just risked there lives for him. He dropped his bloody blade where it clattered noisily onto the street. Orion shook his head and picked up his blade. "Anything I can do?" he asked the girl that had stayed.

Kat: "yasa!" she leaves her sword embedded in the beast's eye and runs to Yasa's side. "sit very still now ok? your going to be fine..." there is doubt in her voice. she places her hand over part of the wound to try and stop the flow of blood.

Yasa: he feels weak and cold. blood drips from his cut, and on to the ground. he slowly slips into the darkness that surrounds his thoughts.

Lark ran back to the body of the beast. She placed some of the herbs on Yasa's wound, crushing up the rest. She pulled the canteen of water off her belt and put the herbs in it. She forced Yasa to drink it. "Come on Yasa! You can't die!" she said.

Orion sank to his knees. He was useless. He couldn't help and it was his fault in the first place. He buried his face in his scarf when the the girl with long brown hair snatched it from him. "Hey!" he said. "Yasa needs it more than you!" she said. Orion didn't protest. "We could use this as a bandage," the girl said, pressing it into Kat's hand. Orion knew Kat and Yasa. He had seen them around town, but never talked to them. Now one of them had just saved his life.

Kat: she tightly wraps the scarf around Yasa's chest. she looks down at him. "why did you do that Yasa? Yes i know that every good person helps strangers, but to give up your life for one?" she stands. "thank you all for your help, but i am afraid that there is no hope for Yasa."
