Heh. I didn't know for the longest time, either. You need to go to the currency exchange page under the trade broker tab. On the top left of that page is the option to sell currency. You would select gold, and the amount of gold you wish to sell (in this case 1 gold). Then you select the number of diamonds you are selling the gold for.
It's something you need to do rather than me because if I set it up, it will be gone in an instant. XD When it's ready, I will look for your name in the exchanges, and accept yours. :)
