Bea gave a polite smile, backing up and providing additonal details to what Bri was saying

Captain Haylee's stern expression showed a faint hint of impressed. "Two humans... fascinating" She muttered under her breath. She cleared her throat before speaking up. "Regardless of origins, they will still need to work to earn their keep. I will administer a test to join the survey corps, but if you fail, you will be forced to fend for yourself outside in the wilderness. There are no exceptions to these rules." She declared. "My assistant will supervise the field test.

"Houndoom, go fetch Meilin for us please" The captain instructed the large pokemon sleeping on the floor. The scary looking pokemon stood up and left the room, then returned moments later alongside a sweet looking young girl with a hoppip at her side.

"Meilin, I'd like you to administer a field test, these two girls will be trying out for the survey corps, I will brief you on the details while Malabi and Kenji prepare them" She explained. "Brianna and Bea, Kenji and Professor Malabi will lend you a survey corp uniform, you two are hardly dressed for field work, a wild pokemon could tear those rags to shreds" She instructed.

"Of course, right away captain." Kenji replied, heading off down a hallway. The professor opened his mouth to say something to the captain, but a quick glare from her shut him right up.

"Er... right, we'll get ready right away captain" He grinned before turning back to the two strangers from the future. "Alright you two, lets get you ready for the trial." He said.

The group followed Kenji to a mostly empty room with stacks of clothes. Kenji took a moment grabbing a few articles of clothing and handing a pile to Bea and Bri. "We're going to step out for a moment, you can change into these behind those curtains over there. If it doesn't fit, let me know, I had to guess on sizes." He explained. Kenji and the professor both stepped out so the girls could change in privacy.

Bri noddd and went behind the curtain and changed into the outfit. She smiled and stepped out, looking good. *its perfect! Thanks!*

Bea smiled, examining her outfit. It definitely felt more secure than the pajamas she was previously wearing, she felt actually safe in it. Her mudkip seemed to like the outfit change too, as it yipped happily when she stepped from behind the curtain.

*Hey, Brianna, in the off chance you dont make it through this, Ill go with you us future folks gotta stick together, Im sure we can figure something out shoot, but the thing that sent us here wants us to make people get along with pokemon we can still probably do that if we ugh, I should stop thinking like that, I gotta stay positive, we just really need to pass this test* Bea sighed, anxiously rambling about the possible future

Bri just nodded. *thanks, and same goes to you.*

Bea left the room, expecting to find Kenji and the professor but instead found Meilin and the houndoom waiting there instead.

*Hi! Im going to be overseeing your field exam, you can call me Meilin, and this is my partner, houndoom.* she gestured to the Pokmon sat beside her. *While Im not at liberty to tell you all the details of the exam before we start, I have been permitted to give you the option of where youd like to take the exam* Meilin give a bright smile to the girls.

*The first option is the Sangria Grove, its a lovely forest with lots of trees and some flower fields, then theres the azure cliffs, its pretty rocky there, and as the name suggests, a lot of cliffs, so be extra careful if you choose that place, and the last place we have is the lapis reef, its a really lovely beach with a reef not too far out into the water, great place for a swim when theres no Pokmon around* Meilin chatted about each of the places.

Bea took a moment to consider, but Meilin interrupted her thoughts. *Oh, and you both need to choose one place, we arent making two trips for this, so come to an agreement on something* She beamed.

*Hmm* Bea contemplated. *I guess my first pick would be the Azure cliffs, since I grew up by the beach I dont have much experience with dry highland Pokmon but wait, if this is a test I should stick to my comfort zone, so maybe one of the other places would be better?* she pondered out loud, directing herself towards Bri. *This is a tough choice, whats your opinion?* she asked the other girl

she smiled. *im comfortable in almost any place, so pick your comfort zone.*

(Alrighty, azure cliffs it is then)

*Alright Miss Meilin, wed like to go to the Azure cliffs* Bea decided. Meilins expression stated a warm smile.

*Sounds great! Ill tell the guards our destination, any items needed for the rest will be provided, so dont worry about that* She informed them.

The two followed Meilin through headquarters until Meilin held out an arm to stop them. A slight frown twinged her mouth as a few severely injured people were rushed down an opposite hallway. *Pokemon can be truly awful sometimes theyll attack without hesitation or remorse, never forget that any Pokmon can be deadly* Meilins voice was soft as she warned the group.

-skip to arriving at the cliffs, if you wanna make any comments or whatever before they arrive, just put a time skip after whatever you said at that moment-

After about an hour of traveling through forest, the party arrived at a rocky landscape full of cliffs and canyons. There were bird Pokmon flying around large stalagmites, and ground and rock Pokmon hiding out in other places.

*Now that were here, allow me to explain your tasks. You are each to catch one Pokmon and defeat one wild Pokmon in battle, you will be supplied 10 pokeballs. If you are incapable of completing your assigned tasks in one hours time, you will fail and be exiled* Meilin explained with a bright smile despite her words. *Youre allowed to travel anywhere in the zone, but dont go too far, if something happens wed still like to be able to return you to the village for medical attention*

she nodded and took her 10 Pokeballs. *alright, thank you!* she said happily, before looking at Bea. *ready to go?*

Meilin smiled at Bri. *Good luck out there!*

*You know it! Better hope you can keep up with me and my little mudkip here* Bea quipped. The two headed out to where the wild Pokmon were and Bea began to scope out the area. Mudkip and Bulbasaur would have a type advantage over most of the Pokmon here, due to the abundance of ground and rock types.

*Hey, Bri, I just remembered something* Bea suddenly said. *my memory has been really hazy since I woke up here, and I cant remember all that much about my life, but I think Im pretty sure I was a Pokmon researcher* she said. *I remember white lab coats and examining Pokmon, I remember clipboards and pages of notes and watching Pokmon in their natural environments for hours* she recalled

she nodded. *i remember watching TV all the time and... caring for... i think my family.* she said, looking around for a pokemon.
