"Mugged?" I asked. I felt a cold shiver race down my spine. This was the guy in the picture that I tore up!

I also had a cold feeling in my stomach. "By whom?"

I shrugged. " I didn't see their face. They attacked from behind. They were wearing a new york hoodie though."

I sighed when she didn't respond and walked up to her door.
"So... are you hungry?"

I exhaled a breath that I didn't even know I was holding.

Not a shadow creature. Definitely not one.

"Nonetheless, I'll need to disguise you." I said, changing the subject. "Monsters don't take kindly to me, and I am one. They'd shred a human in the blink of an eye."

I opened the closet in my bedroom, and began the search.

Shoes? No
Jacket? Maybe, they'd be suspicious though.
My hands found a red dress, black trimming, that had a light of its own. I throw it away from me, trying to forget, but failing...

Alice giggled. "You think it would look good?" she asked, showing the beautiful red dress. It glowed slightly. Definitely enchanted.

"You know I think it would look wonderful," I said. I kissed her on the cheek. "But you know I'm biased."

"Oh quit it," she said, playfully slapping me. "Do you think it would look good for the Bloodmoon Ball?"

"We have a year and a month. It would still look beautiful, although infested with dust bunnies."

"Ha ha, verrrry funny," she said, smiling.

I stifled a sob. I still remember seeing that shadow wolf tearing her up, piece by piece, a year from our, now my failed, Bloodmoon Ball. I felt tears run down my cheeks. Before I knew it, I was crying, sobbing. I hated remembering the pain, the pain caused by those things that I used to shift into.

I walked over to the guy. "A-are you okay?" I asked hesitantly. I didn't know if this would cause an attack or if he wanted to be alone.

"Not really." I said. Fittiling with my tail.

"Fine, just... bad memories," I said, wiping away my tears. I found what I was looking for: a pair of ears on a headband and three tails with a string attached. Each were enchanted so that they would move with your mood. I handed them to him. "What's your name?" I asked. "I don't want to keep referring to you as 'human'."

I looked at him not exactly believeing the bad memories thing before taking the ears and tails. "I'm Akira. And you are?" I asked trying to put on the ears and tails.

I blushed, "Slade." I was hoping he wasn't one of the humans who would remember my deeds by my name. I noticed his trouble with the ears and tails. "Here, let me help."

I slid the headband with ears onto his head. Due to the enchantments, the headband went invisible, causing the ears to look like they were coming out of his head.

I took the tails and said, "This string here is to be strung through beltloops on pants. Do your pants have belt loops? If not, I have some extra pairs of pants that I never use." I blushed again, embrassed of how I sounded.

"That's a cool name." I tell Slade. "Yeah my pants have loops." I say while showing him my loops. "Why don't other monsters like you?"
