Umbra, realizing he would likely not win this fight, fell forward, gripping X's core in hand as he opted for another option. If they intended to take him down, he'd take the whole damn room with him.
He flicked a bit of venom from his tail over the core, letting it spark wildly and smolder as something seemed to activate within it.
"We are not done here. Orias Upega will survive."
He growled, sending a wide, telepathic transmission out to everyone else in the fortress as the core began to fission and implode in his hand with a bright red light.

'Let.. none survive. Burn everything of this pathetic planet to the ground and add these souls to the damned. It.. has been an honor to serve. Let my death only serve to rekindle your spirit.'

Rey
Rey, knowing full well the nature of their cores, dove out of the room, pulling Traqil along with her to the ground, shielding herself with her arms and erupting metal scutes over her body.

Saras was too neat to escape, so he locked down, his armor sealing and protecting him entirely.
(He's gonna need new armor...)

(He had a 1 in his escape attempt, so it safe to say that Rey just saved his sorry as$)

He hid his head as best he could, quietly thanking Rey for helping him out. Hopefully his thick armor would hold up, but there were no promises.

(at least I yeeted that superarmor and X (unfortunately only here. :() out of existence. This is an outcome I can be satisfied with.
Even if I didn't get Saras' arm somehow smh)

The room suddenly surged with a sparking, red light as Umbra dropped, a lifeless, shredded, and torched husk to the ground. Part of the room caved in from the blast, leaving wires from the wall sparking dangerously and small pockets of fire kicking up in the smoky rubble.
The sounds of feet could be heard mobilizing elsewhere in the fortress.

They would need to leave.
Now.

Rey
Rey was grateful that the metal door had shielded her and Traqil from the force of the blast, but was less grateful that the fort now seemed to be on full alert. She could hear guards approached and others arming up and mobilizing in the distance.
She pulled Traqil up, not even bothering to shift back to human form. "Go, get a head start. I'll make sure Saras has survived."

(sorry, my comp decided to spaz out in the middle of typing this, gimme a sec for Rey)

Once the evplosion wend away, Saras removed most of the armor, only keeping his rebreather and the piece that kept him from bleeding out.

(hopefully not everything proof again. :>)

(Well, it's newer, but lighter and antitank shells can penetrate it.)

Going to need something just sort of a tank or nuclear explosion to drop him apparently. jesus)

(That's one shot. Focussed heavy machine gun fire can also pierce the armor with time.)
