"Thanks," Kit's tone gave away that what Tak said wasn't the answer she was looking for, "anything else you can tell us related to ancient cultures or forgotten cultures?"
Terrin's feathers fluff up worriedly.

"Ancient cultures, eh?" Tarka asked. "I mean, if y'don't mind bein' a bit more specific, I have a bit I can share, for sure! Which one're you interested in?"

"I have some suspicions that the Captain isn't who he says he is," Kit answers, "that and a race of ancient birds maybe? I don't know I got a wierd message before we left and signed onto this ship."
Terrin's feathers fluff up even more, "Kit maybe this isn't the best time to ask."
"We need to know and we have a right to know."

Tarka's eyes narrowed a bit. "A... weird message?? Well, if that isn't dodgey, I can't say what is..." He responded steadily, digging into his side bag. "Any details on that you'd like to share?"

Terrin glares at his sister, "No there isn't."
"Yes there is. We were told to look for a lost civilization and to find a friend's true home. I have a feeling I know who that friend is but it isn't the captain," Kit thought quickly on her feet, "We don't know who sent the message but they also told us to look for stormbirds or something like that it was hard to understand."

Tarka continued to eye them both warily, pulling a small bundle out of his bag. It made a dull, metallic click as he shifted it from one wing to the other. "...I only just met the cap'n yesterday," He informed them, cautiously. "Whatever you're asking me for, it ain't ringing any bells."

"Any ancient civilization then. Go through them and we'll tell you what we might find useful," Kit steps back, "Though first what's in the bag and don't lie to me about that. I'm not in the mood."
Terrin walks over to Tarka and whispers to him, "She hates water and this ship is a floating nigthmare for her. When she's scared or trapped she tends to attack and her claws are razor sharp so please don't provoke her."

Tarka looked over at Terrin, then nodded, unwrapping the small bundle, revealing a set of steel talons. He grinned sheepishly at Kit. "Sorry sheila, you put me a bit 'on edge' just now, is all. Figured you might be secretly working with the mob for a moment." With that, he re-tied the bundle and slipped it back into his bag. "Now, what'd you say about stormbirds and friends?"

Kit snarled at him, "We're running from the mob who killed our mentor! Why would I work for them? Ask Terrin I need a few minutes.'' At that she walks away her tail lashing behind her.
Terrin shakes his head, "You got lucky. The letter I think says I'm the stormbird and that I need to find the rest of my biological family. I was carried to the island where Kit and I were picked up on by a storm when I was young. Too young to remember where I'm from. Hence the name Terrin meaning storm or thunder.''

Tarka tilted his head. "That's deadset, eh?" He responded. "Alright. Well, I'm not entirely sure, but the closest bunch of critters that I can think of are what some folks call thunderbirds. Regular birds... if you don't count their size and control over lightning, that is." Tarka looked Terrin up and down. "Judging by your get up? I'd guess you to be a fan of 'em, actually!"
