Here! is this okay?? I didn't have time to grammar check it xD
I sat on the couch, staring at the spirit in front of me. I sat there for what felt like hours, yet only a few minutes passed. The ghost opened its mouth as if it would speak to me for a moment, but stopped as its attention snapped up to look at Aiya, as she walked into the room, carrying 2 tubs of Ice cream. I smiled as heartily as I could at her, but I doubt with how tired I was that it looked very energetic. I thought about how I had went shopping today and quickly tried to think about how I could make my story funnier. It was merely tradition to tell a story about what had happened at the store that day, but try to make it funnier than it already was. This time it was easy, considering some crazy lady provided the perfect story for him to tell. As she sat down on the couch and handed me the tub of Ice cream, I said I went shopping today. Immediately, her face brightened as she waited for me to start tellling the story. this lady ran into the store wearing yellow rainboots (it's set in summer) and a work outfit. Her hair looked like she had just gotten out of bed!I started. She had already started to giggle, only making me more determined to make her burst out laughing. Anyways, she ran over to a shelf and picked up all the latex gloves on it, then she rushed over to the self checkout, paid for everything, and left! Without the gloves! I finished, satisfied with my story. She was laughing so hard she was crying. I was about to add once she left, I got us a free box of gloves! But for some reason, that was the moment the spirit decided to stop me. It thought to me laugh. I was startled that the spirit was so bold as to say that, but complied anyways. The only time it commanded me to do something was to not take my pills that Aiya had decided to get for me one day. Id never known what they were for, but the spirit always forced me to never take it. Aiya suggested it was late and that we should go to bed. I gave one last smile and headed over to the bathroom.
In the morning, the spirit seemed extra bold again in the morning. I was going to do it anyways, but it told me in an authoritative tone Take a shower, now. I didnt exactly like this attitude, but maybe ghosts have extra-sensitive smell? As I started the shower, I could hear Aiya turning in her blankets, still softly asleep. I hope I didnt wake her I thought to myself. I had work early, but Aiya hadnt gotten any jobs recently. Aiya was a detective, and got good pay when she was hired, but recently the town had been extra calm. I stood there pondering in the mirror, and was only brought back into focus by the piercing gaze of the ghost. I glared at it and got in the shower.
Today was the day Aiya did laundry, so all I had to wear was a black sweater, hat, and sweatpants. Luckily, my employer gave lots of leeway when it came to dress code, which was nice as a security guard. All the security equipment was at the store, so I was all ready to go. For just a few seconds the ghost disappeared and my body grabbed the box of latex gloves-not of my own free will. Every time I tried to put them back, my body wouldnt listen to me. Finally I gave up as I realized I would be late if I kept trying, still confused as to what was happening. I got in my car and headed down.
I pulled up to the store. I grabbed my officer belt and headed to oversee the self check-out. I caught a couple of shoplifters, just a few small ones. The thing that really caught my eye was another spirit hanging over a woman. I tried not to stare. Instead, I looked around for my ghost so as to ask it what another one was doing here, but it was nowhere in sight. I would keep an eye on her, but not approach her. I noticed the other spirit was staring at me, so I tried to make it look like I didnt notice it, but it kept staring. Eventually, after a few glances at me, the woman left.
A few hours later, it was rush hour. Some time between now and then, my ghost came back. I asked it where it had been, but it gave no answer as usual. I rolled my eyes, but then felt a thought come back from it. No, not a thought, but more of a strong feeling. My body was moving on its own again! It shoved its hand into my pocket again grabbed the gun. I whipped around, just in time to see the lady from before lunging at me- well, more like my body- very quickly. By the time I knew what my body what doing, my hand already had the gun out. Aimed for her chest. I couldnt stop my hand. My will increasing its pressure to not shoot her, but it was at that moment the ghost decided to speak to me. She is in the way. Since you are obviously not going to kill her, I will. Shock struck my body. The spirit had never sounded so cold and vicious before! By the time the thought had registered, the woman was lying on the ground, blood pooling around her. Her spirit tried to shake her awake, but his hand only passed through her as he tried to hold her, trying to cry, but was unable to, as he was not a solid. The ghost looked at me, sorrow and rage in his eyes. I tried to tell him it wasnt me! But I couldnt say a thing, and he vanished.
The latex gloves felt sticky, like my hand was drenched in his own sin, though I knew it wasnt my fault. My body wasnt done yet. Every person it saw was shot. Kids, parents, elders, teenagers, business people. Chaos was all around, but my gun left no survivors. Sirens wailed, as if in a rage that it was too late to save anyone. My body took me far away from the scene. Why? Was all I could think to the spirit, but it gave no reply. The only thing let me do was watch Aiya. It pained me even more to see her. She was sobbing. I was left lost in the woods for a week thanks to the ghost that constantly loomed over me. My mind was gone. I couldnt move, even when the spirit didnt inhabit my body. On miserable day, the spirit said something for once. It told me Aiya had figured out it was me that had committed the massacre. That we need to get rid of her. I begged, willed myself harder than ever to stay still, not let the ghost, no demon control me, but it was all in vain.
I walked up the apartment stairs. I counted every step. I couldnt do anything, not even cry. I tried to scream, to warn her. I unlocked the door with my key, as it creaked open. That was the only entrance, it was too late to save her. I gave one last burst of will to slow the ghost, but it didnt even make him flinch. He creeped toward the bedroom door. As my body opened it, all I could see was a flurry of motion. I realized it was Aiya, armed with a butter knife and pepper spray. I had hope for a moment that she would kill me, but she stopped as soon as she saw it was me. My heart dropped. The last thing she said before I shot her was Zack? That was it for me. She hit the floor, breathing heavily for a few moments. In that time, she looked at me slowly. I tried to hold her as she lay there dying. So this is what that spirit felt. To not even be able to move to hold her, or let tears of woe fall from your eyes. She gave a look of understanding the second before she passed, as if she saw sorrow caged behind my eyes. |
