He offered a small smile in return.

Artemis smiled and says, "Good luck child. And tell me if you found the right friend, " Artemis left the house and quickly head home.

Bradyn didn't respond, just watched him leave. Once Artemis had left, he turned back to his mother, watching her sleep, asking anyone, anything that would listen to just let her live.

Artemis stops a mile outside the town and smiled. "You raised a good kid old friend even if you don't remember me. Get well soon for I fear your son will go down a bad path," Artemis says with a fatherly tone. He runs into the forest and disappears in the night.

(Well a continuation can be good. Since people would want to know how his mother got well again when there was no cure. Even the king. But some whom knew about the elf doesn't say anything due to the fear of being outed as a traitor.)

(That is a fair point. Question, though. Will the war commence despite the kingdom not being prepared for it? Also, those who knew about the elf, would they talk to Bradyn or keep it to themselves?)

Bradyn kneels beside his mother, placing the back of his hand on her forehead, sighing. How long would this take?

(I would says that they would talk to him and tell him a warning or something. The decision would be on the king or queen and they would do what's best for the kingdom and they know that even with the tension the can't go to war. They would probably want the elf.)

There a knock on the door.

Bradyn had a hard time looking away from his ill mother as he heard the knock. He eventually did, moving to answer the door.

It was one of the towns man whom told him about the elf. "Can I come in?" The man asked.

Bradyn nodded mutely, stepping aside to allow enough space for the man to come in.

He shuts the door and says, "I hope the elf has help you Bradyn,"
