"Not always the case," Sarah pulls out a small mint leaf, "Also yeah I tend to have a few on me to hide my trail. I've seen a sunlit forest before. Alright back to desert survival?"

"Staying cool as you travel is key. hydrate as needed, yes, but it's easier if you reduce how much fluid you lose from sweating. It's also better not to hunt unless you are certain you can find food quickly and with little effort. It gets cold at night, too. Better to hunt then than during the day, but the temperature can drop well below freezing many nights, so if you can, bring something to keep you warm."

Nodding once she looks around, "That makes sense but not all deserts are the same right? Like the ice deserts I've heard about?"

"Yes. That term is a bit confusing, but it refers to places like the south pole; wide, open expanses of nothing but snow. Many of the rules still apply; stay hydrated, stay warm at night, seek shelter in high winds, be careful while you hunt."

Yawning slightly Sarah understands, "Anything else? Aside from don't have a fire if you can avoid it?"

"Oh, fires are encouraged at night, actually."

"Why wouldn't give your position away since the smoke smells and fire's light can be seen for miles in an open area?"

"The fuel here is typically dry enough, and you can arrange it in a way that creates minimal smoke. It's not ideal if you're being tracked, yes, but I suppose if it's between freezing to death or taking your chances with whoever is tracking you... That's up to judgment."
