Sarah gets to her feet and follows Zero, "What did you have in mind?"

"Simple navigation stratagey. It takes some time to set up, but it works anywhere there's sunlight." He walked a little ways out of the cavern, picking up his sword and two stones.

Sarah curiously follows wondering what Zero was going to show her, "Are the rocks magnetic or a certain kind of rock?"

"Any rocks, and any long object you can put in the sand will do." Zero responded, plunging the tip of his blade into the sand. He glanced up at the sun, then down the short shadow the sword cast. He set one of the rocks down at the very edge of the shadow, then went back inside. "Now we wait."

"So basically a sundial," Sarah asks, "Intresting trick so how long are we suppose to wait?"

"Around fifteen degrees per hour, that's the rate. Twenty minutes might make enough of a difference for me to tell, though."

"Intresting," Sarah mutters, "So you mark it again and you wait til basically either six or tweleve then you know which way is which? And where did you learn all of these tricks?"

"I've picked them up, over the years. I was quite the mercenary in my prime. The price was high but I always delivered." Zero replied. "But no, I don't need to wait until six. I just need to see which direction the shadow moves. It's past noon, so the direction it grows will be east, the opposite will be west, and north and south are easy enough to figure out from there."

"Huh smart trick," Sarah says, "I always prefered the old water, leaf, and paperclip or small piece of metal trick when I was in the forest. The metal point always pointed north or south depending on which way the leaf point was facing. And I know your reputation."

"Practical method... If you have a leaf and water." Zero halfway agreed. "Although out here, you won't find much of either. Then again, there isn't much sunlight in a deep forest."
