Hazel had a relationship that was really abusive and controlled. Like when she wouldn't do a thing he asked she would be physically hurt, such as... slapped, dragged, etc. Because of this past Hazel gets a little skittish when someone touches her where her ex did. Like her wrists... Ian grabbed her wrists and she yelled at him to let go, him doing that scared her.
