Val swims across and shakes her fur, mane, and tail free of water on the other side of Maverick, so he was soaked again. He glared and both of them again. Giving up on getting dry, he just walked off. "C'mon."

She nickers, telling Desta it was okay. She increased her speed and went off into the bushes. Maverick didn't bother going after her. He was still in a bad mood from being soaked. Twice.
After not finding much, Ghost gave up

Ghost's ears pricked toward the sound, deciphering that it was the sound of hooves and feet. Victoria was too high to hear anything, but she saw Desta and Val coming and climbed down the tree as quickly as possible.
Valerie kept going where she was going. Maverick sprinted to catch up.
