Her eyes slowly popped open one at a time. A small mew came from her dry throat as she tried to make a sound for the approaching lion to hear. Lunamer tried to left her head though she failed her face landing in the dirt again.

As Adongo saw the tiny cranium of the cub fall, Adongo grabbed her gently by her scruff. The weightless feel of the cub made the lioness wince, she knew she had to hurry. Back to her brother, to food and protection.
...
Ambrose was at first baffled by his sister's sudden leave. Wasn't he doing the right thing? Had he not been exhaustively searching for the Roaring Winds of Change? He had yet to lead her wrong. Looking over the dead lands, he let out a worried huff. The winds were still, so should they! Ambrose reminded himself. Yet... why did he feel so wrong? Was his heart getting in the way? Had he truly been taking them the wrong way? Ambrose's mind continued to wander, the lion soon giving up and put his mind on protecting what they had left for food. The numbers of vulture had started to fight against his better judgement, before Adongo had come, rushing in like her tail was on fire. The first thing Ambrose had seen was the dark furred skeleton of a cub hanging from her mew. "Where did you-"
Without a word the lioness brushed past him to put the cub right next to the kill. "Eat, little one, eat." she cooed gently to the cub. "You must eat."
Ambrose stood in shock against the site of his sister letting an outsider feed on their meal. However, his chest tightened at the sight of the poor thing. "What happened?"

Her body collapsed onto the dirt next to the kill. It was all she could do to left her head up enough not to smother to death. Again her soft mew tried to reach the lions ears but again she failed. Lunamer struggled to to pull herself to the kill though she couldn't find traction enough to do so.
Blood, she could smell blood. Henara sniffed the ground as she tracked down the kill that smelled so good. Her mouth watered as the smell got stronger though she could also smell other lions.

"She is still too weak," Adongo murmured, she gently pulled the cub up and towards a fresh spot on the eat of the carcass. "Here," she purred. She would bath the cub later... Adongo looked to her brother, explaining that she had found the lump of fur on patrol.
Ambrose narrowed his eyes as he listened to his sister, it was a habit of his. Adongo continuously teased him that when he becomes elder, he shall have craters around his narrowing eyes. "Y-" cut off, something got his attention. Maybe it was nothing... Ambrose was about to continue on until the scent tempted his nose again. "Something is coming." the male said, before looking around. The smell was faint, within the mile range. "Grab the cub," he said quickly. He could not tell which direction it was coming from.
"But she hasn't-" Adongo argued, looking at Ambrose she could tell there was something serious. Still, Adongo did not dare rush the cub. Instead she stood over the cub protectively as she looked around.

Did she dare even try to open her mouth and eat, she did. It was the only way she was going to live. Lunamer forced her jaws opened and bit down on a chunk of meat. She was too weak to eat, he jaw just wouldn't work for her.
Other lions, and a fresh kill? It was almost worth a fight though at the same time Henara didn't have it in her to try and take on another lion.

Ambrose let out a low growl, a warning as he stood in front of his sister and the cub. "This is our kill..." he said sternly, then his sister, Adongo, cut him off.
"There is enough food for another..." she hissed. Then looked to the other lioness. "It's just... We have a cub, I found her and she won't eat." she said worryingly. Adongo might have been a female in her prime but, she was not a mother. Perhaps this lioness had some experience.
Ambrose continued to keep his sharp gaze on the lioness, they did not know her and she could be a danger to the cub, however... if the cub did not eat he knew his sister would not either. She was stubborn and childish that way. Ambrose saw it as she bent her head to lick the cub's frail body trying to urge the small one to eat, cooing words of encouragement into the cub's ears.
Ambrose suddenly felt the still wind blow, making his crimson mane dance upwards. "What..." he murmured, and suddenly saw a beast of his kind in the air. Maybe he should have listened to his sister afterall... more of their kind kept coming because of the scent of blood. It was too late now.
