Jessie flinched from the touch, but soon relaxed as they realized that she meant no harm. Well, maybe not at that moment, but as long as she didn't hurt them it was fine.

"I wanna go home..." They murmured, their hands falling from their ears to their sides. "I d-don't like it here."

"You ain't the only one dork." She said, sounding rude but she really wasn't trying to be. Despite using the word dork it seemed more a habit than anything else.

The guards came out first, three of them all in black suits and all holding shotguns in their massive fists. They strolled from the steam-filled corridor beyond like they were going for a walk in the park, their silver eyes full of cold humor. They made Victoria nervous, no doubt about it, but that wasn't what filled her with terror.

Behind them came two more figures that looked horribly familiar to Vicky--their stunted bodies covered by leather overcoats, their shriveled, pasty faces concealed by ancient gas masks that wheezed noisily. They were almost lost in the shadows of their guards as they twitched and shook their way out, but their black eyes, --which looked as lifeless as the lumps of coal in a snowman's face--never left the new people. Victoria recalled the first time she'd met one of the monstrosities, the way it had picked her best friend to die without the slightest trace of emotion. Victoria felt anger well up inside her, but she was powerless to do anything about it.

Besides, it wasn't even those freaks who made the scene ahead so horrific. It was the man who walked out after them. (Orca, there's your cue) At first glance he seemed like an ordinary guy in his forties: pretty tall, very lean, dark hair, and a clean gray suit. But the more people studied him the more they realized there was something very wrong with the way he looked. His face was too angular, the skin pulled tight against the bone beneath like he was a skeleton dressed in someone else's flesh, flesh that looked more like leather when it caught the light.

The weird thing was that nobody could look him in the eye. Their gaze just bounced off, like there was some kind of force field around his face. Whenever anyone tried to look him right in the eye, they found themselves staring at something else instead, his chin, his suit, the wall.

(I shall take this as my cue to kill Nicote jump in (Nicote: wha..?) )

Nicote grimaced, and when the man finally came out, he stepped forward. "Sir, I finished your request." he said quietly, holding out the watch for the warden. His gaze stayed down on his shoes. He knew he was exposed, if anything happened...he was dead.

Lio stared at Nicote, thinking he was out of his mind. Cole was readying for the funeral alreayd.

There was something about the man that didn't sit well with Jessie. Whatever it was, it made their stomach churn. They held their stomach as if it would stop him from nearly vomiting, as long they kept their mouth closed they wouldn't vomit everywhere like they did on the elevator.

They noticed that no one could look him in the eye. They knew the man looked a bit unsettling but he couldn't find a true reason as to why no one could maintain eye contact with him. Was it because of his appearance? His apparent rank? Jessie couldn't figure out the reason why. This was just some guy, right? Some man who was in charge of presumably everything and could kill them all with one snap of a finger, right?

Okay, that made their situation a bit more terrifying. But, if the man managed to march his way over to them and the others, they wouldn't be afraid to look this kind of scary man in the eyes.

The man stared at the boy, and thanked him. "Thank you," came a voice so gravelly and deep that it was like it was being broadcast directly into everyone's head

Nicote ducked his head in acknowledgement and hurried back. Glad he wasn't dead...
