Not waiting for it to dry, he chooses a darker brown and fills in most of the deer with this color, leaving certain spots where deer have that tawny color and letting the darker brown blend with the other color to make it look natural.

He takes a darker color and a much finer brush and begins very carefully doing the shading for one of the deer further back.
