Yeah, she was dead and still is (well, now she's just undead, lol). He kept her from technically fully passing on due to waiting on booting her to the afterlife and now he has her soul kept on hand as her 'phylactery' and leaving her consciousness in her body as a lich.

Guess that's a record for me, killing a character right at the start. :^)
