"It's a Purification." Kira explains. "About twice a month, usually around the full and new moon, Akita cleans the winter realm. Pouka become snow automatically, and shen become frozen glamour. She allows us basilisks to create a special kind of ice during this time, which finds anyone who can't create ice themselves and also helps to stabilize the connection between the mortal realm and Akita's."

He looked down. *so what does that do for me?*

"Well, outsiders only get to do this once." She smiles at him. "So take it all in! We've got quite a while before the cleaning ends; plenty of time to look around."

He smiled. *what should I do?*

"Well, there's always a celebration! That's why we're dressed up." She grins. "Akita herself even comes to the party, usually. This is her home, after all!"
