Jason so many times had been one of them,one of the kids who'd sat alone because he'd not been able to get a date,and Lila never offered just to hang because she usually always had a date,always. He automatically seemed to take a step toward the direction of the tables.

The rooms other half was a sea of swirling gowns and tuxedos. Couples swayed to the music, some dancing casually with their partners, some so welded together youd need a crowbar to pry them apart.

And then the murmurs began, starting from the table where the Dateless sat, spreading to the dance floor and the corners of the room. People were staring at the trio, shooting furtive glances over their dates shoulders, heads bent low to whisper to each other.

Jason lowered his head a bit,moving closer to Puck subtly and then smiled as if in relief as the blond haired "DJ" saw him. Her bright blue eyes shimmered as she waved the three over with a frail hand. She had hot pink headphones on and a blue blouse with hugging white pants. She bounced as she waved them over,at least only 2 feet taller than the "DJ" stand with blue ribbons and white letters hanging there with the title of the party.

Puck stepped in front of Jason and bowed. "Your Highness," he said formally, though his eyes were twinkling as he held out a hand. "May I have the honor of the first dance? After we meet the DJ, of course."

Jason blushed like heck,freckles turning pink. "I....um." He'd never been asked to dance and he wasn't so into being called anything related to royalty but he tentatively put his hand in Puck's,blushing and smiling faintly. "You may." He said,trying not to laugh at the response. He'd never been asked to dance so it literally would be his first dance that would've been asked of him. Other than when he used to break it on the dance floor a few years ago when he used to dance. He did well with that,but he'd stopped when he'd turned 13.

Puck danced very well. He probably had loads of experience. Puck gave a soft chuckle. "Okaaaay," he murmured as they spun around the room, "Obviously I mustve been met your twin brother because I was expecting you to step on my toes all night."

He blushed like heck,Lila giving a huge thumbs up as she saw them with a laugh. "I-I...d-don't dance though.N-Not anymore that is." He said softly,watching Puck's feet and trying to match them. He followed carefully and,as long as his frantice gaze was on Puck's feet,he matched almost perfectly,the only reason almost was because of his limp.

As they moved around the dance floor, Jason caught glimpses of Ash, if he was looking, standing alone in the corner with his hands in his pockets. It was too dark to see the emotion on his face, but his gaze never left them. The next time, he wasnt alone. Three girls, one of them the skinny blonde who had been melded to another guy a few minutes ago, had trapped him and were very obviously flirting. Smiling coyly, they oozed close, flipping their hair and giving him sultry looks from beneath their lashes. Ash was smiling at the girls, achingly handsome and charming. He was flirting with them.

Jason almost tripped as he saw him flirty,and his heart almost broke again. He clung closer to Puck,ripping his eyes away despite the struggle. He shut them tightly,still matching Puck's motions,and grit his teeth. Lila saw this and put the music on auto volume and put her head phones down,blond hair swaying as she slipped from behind the table and slid carefully over to the other side of the room where the two where. She yanked one of the boys from the table of no dates and the kid grinned as she yanked him into a dance to get closer to Jason. "Jj?" She said,making sure her and her new "partner" stayed close to Puck and Jason. He didn't hear her,and so couldn't respond.

Puck drew back, frowning slightly, as though he knew his heart wasnt in it anymore. Ash was still there in the corner, chuckling at something one of the girls had said. "You okay, Jason?"
