And I enjoy getting names for my sylesti so it's a win-win.
I chose Hestia and Burnished Flame. Please choose four sylesti to breed.
I'll try, but you're correct in saying it's difficult to define most times. Just please understand I'm not trying to be mean or say these names are necessarily bad, I'm just trying to explain why (or at least partially why) I don't personally like/want to name my pet that.
Venom: I think it's mostly the colors of the body and feathers that make me feel like this name doesn't work. Maybe if they were darker or had traits other than the feathers it might work?
Pearl: I can kind of see why this might work but at the same time I can't see her with this name. I think it's because when I think "Pearl" my mind goes straight to a while glossy pearl which wouldn't quite work for this girl.
Otoa (like the Spanish word for autumn): I don't speak Spanish but Google said this is not the Spanish word for Autumn. Otherwise not a bad suggestion.
Hestia (greek fire goddess): I already have a Hestia but she's a Vulnyx and I liked this name for this Ny'vene. Her colors and the fact she has a combination of the Essence of Flames and Imperial Dragon traits makes this name work well for her.
Nephthys (Egyptian river goddess) and Anahita (Persian for water goddess): I have the same problem with both. Even though the Ny'vene is blue and has Petal Markings that kind of look like droplets of water, I can't get past the Essence of Flames on her head.
Ivory: I feel like that would work better with a less colorful sylesti.
Burnished Flame: To be honest I'm not really sure why I like this one.
Purgatory: I feel like she's a bit too underwhelming for a name like this.
Is this at all helpful?

It's fine.
What are these names from/what do they mean?

Your feedback was super helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to express what I know can sometimes be no more than a whim. My two pairs are:

So I am a fan of "The Legend of Zelda" video game series. The names "Kolai", "Vauk", "Zaum", and "Yezo/Bezo" are TLoZ (The Legend of Zelda) based names. These names aren't directly from the game, but were based off them to sound like it would be. Each TLoZ race has its own name variance. For example, the Zora's feminine names tend to end in vowels or "h".
Now the "Nyx" name I chose just happens to be one of my favorite kinds of names to name dark colored creatures.
Tysm for opening a wonderful forum! :D
