could you make the mask more conical? like the nytekrie plaguebringer, but not a skull. just a cone shape.

Ah, are you talking about from the front of the face? 'cause then it's a little difficult to show the cone from that point of view, but I'll try my best.
I drew a different version with it from the side of the face, but let me know if my first thought is correct or not.
