They don't need holes- they have nests. It's a little odd for them to be so far away from the fields where they make their little nests, but he has a decent amount of shiny stuff which makes the bolder packrats make the trip anyways. He's missing two spoons and one butter-knife now, but they're not that big of a pest other than that.

Yeah. They're a mild annoyance at worst, and adorable little things who offer bottlecaps and coins to those who feed them at best.

Indeed they are. The king's a big fan of them- he apparently has befriended 20 different flocks of the little guys and has a massive, 10-foot tall stash of caps and coins they've given him.
