Selkie smiles, "Alright then. So if there are any ambushes, I blame you got it."

"I-I don't think they'd lie to me about that... w-would they?"

"I'm kidding Kaladin," Selkie responds, "I'm just a little stressed."

Kal frowned slightly, tilting his head. "Why is that?"

"One of the backers of the Crest is demanding more then I can give and is being unreasonable. I unfortunately need the backer's support because the Crest needs repairs that I am incapable of doing. Before you ask I cannot tell you the identity of the backer and it the backer is not of a royal standing."

"Why can you not find a different backer?" Kal inquired.

"Remember when I was telling you about the Anabeth? My father's ship, he used the same backer and because of what happened and the ship sinking I'm expected to pay a good deal of that debt back. It was a part of the contract my father was tricked into signing. I'm stuck using this backer for the next decade or if I can pay him off. He takes over half of what we make every time."

"Is... there a way we could pay him off?" Kal asked.

"I've been trying," Selkie responds, "The problem that the Annabeth's insurance had lapsed or that money would have gone to pay off the investor. And I can't ask the royals for money, or I'd be in the same dept trap."

"But there has to be something else, isn't there?"
