(I can bend a recurve no problem actually! Just that longbow... I am not terribly strong XD)

Kaladin stared at the weapon for a moment, then backed off a couple paces. "...I think I'll stick to one that isn't made for bears, thank you."

(Neither am I. Thankfully longbows are no longer 70 pounds minimum, I've seen one that is a 50 pound draw weight and have not looked for lower draw weight since I don't shot longbows.)

Thomas laughs, "I had that feeling. These are made for distance and to penetrate armor. Best of luck at the competition you two."
"Good luck to you as well Thomas," Melany says before going over to Kaladin, "So you can shoot any bow huh?"



"Yes I heard about it. Plus it's not too difficult to figure out once all of the clues are laid out in front of you."

"I can shoot any not-monster bow,"

Collin shrugged. "I suppose so. We should keep it to ourselves, though," He chuckled.

Melany tries to stifle a laugh, "Welcome to South Island home of the longbow."



Starlight nods trying to listen for Selkie in the crowd, "Poor Kaladin. He just walked right into Melany's trap and saw a longbow."

"Better here than on the battlefeild," Collin hummed thoughtfully. "I doubt he'd seen a canon either before meeting Selkie. Intimidating weaponry for a person like him.... how times have changed."

Kaladin stiffly walked off to get himself ready for the event. ". . ."

"Yes they have," Starlight agrees, "I just hope times have changed for the better."



Selkie walks over to Kaladin, "Don't let her ruffle your quills she's just playing mind games. I know you can do this."

"Well, isn't that up to us?" Collin pointed out.

Kaladin gave a short nod, picking up a bow and looking it over. "R-right..."

"Well I'll be cheering for you Kaladin. I'd better go back to the crowd before they think I'm competing," Selkie tries to slip away.
"That's something I'd like to see," Gavin says, "after all you have quiet the reputation Captain Waverrider."
"Ah ha... well I'm not very good at archery," Selkie tries to get out of the conversation.
Hollow pops up as well, "Can't be that bad. Come on Captain Waverrider your siren is watching."
Selkie blushes furiously while seeming stunned.


Starlight's ears swivel in Selkie's direction, "I don't know whether to feel sorry for him, laugh, or go rescue Selkie."

"You could always do all three," Collin remarked with a chuckle. "Although I'd be willing to bet the peer pressure is enough to get him to do it anyway, and you've seen how he tends to be once he's set his mind on something."

Kaladin leaned over. "You're a captian, Selkie, you don't have to settle--"

"No you'll only look like a coward in front of your love," Gavin rubs it in.
Selkie's eyes grow stormy making Hollow back off, "Get me a bow."
Hollow runs off and comes back with a longbow and a quiver of arrows, "Are you sure?"
Selkie glares at them, "Yes I'm sure."
"No using magic during this," Gavin reminds him.
"I have no control over earth or wind," Selkie replies, "and there isn't a pond or lake or even a stream nearby."


"Do you think Selkie can pull that bow back," Starlight asks.
