Collin smiled as he dismounted. "Here we are miss! Sounds like they will be starting shortly."

Kaladin gave a nod in thanks.

"Let's go watch then," Starlight replies listening to the crowd. She hoped to see Kaladin and Selkie again.



Melany walks beside him, "Don't thank me, I have every intention to win."
"You can win this Kaladin don't let Melany intimidate you," Selkie encourages.

"Erm. Well, thank you for the extra luck then?"

Collin gave a nod and searched around for a good view of the shooting range.

Starlight's ear flicks in Kaladin's direction. She smiles knowing that after the archery competition she would go to with him.


Melany nods once, "Alright then let's go. I hope you can borrow a good bow that you can pull back."

Kaladin huffed. "I can pull back any bow..." He mumbled softly, going off to select one.

"Miss Starlight, over here!" Collin called over.

"Even a seventy plus poundage longbow," Melany asks.
Selkie knew exactly what Melany had in mind as he watches the competition.
(Yes those are a thing. English archers used longbows of which the minimum draw weight was incredibly high because of the ranges they needed to shot at.)


Starlight walks over to Collin, "So do you know anyone here aside from Kaladin and Selkie?"

(Long bows were incredibly deadly back in the day, too! They played a huge role in the 100 Year's War. That said, they weren't great as far as mobility was concerned, required a lot of training, and were of course heavy and hard to bend.)

"What's a long bow?"

Collin gazed out at the crowd, ears twitching. "Let's see... Lord Lunar and soon-to-be-Lord Blue, of course. Won't that be an exciting coranation! Some of their guard is here as well, of course... I overheard that Sir Gavin partook in the jousting match. It even seems that some of the Wolf Hunters are even present as well!"

Melany stifles a grimace, "Follow me and I'll show you." Walking over to an older archer she asks politely, "Thomas would you mind showing Kaladin your bow please?"


Starlight smile fades slightly, "Here I was hoping to avoid him. Oh well can't be helped I suppose. Who did Sir Gavin joust against do you know? And how did he do?"

(I know my teacher did a lecture over longbows and being an archer myself there were a few times where I asked a few questions about it.)

(I bent a longbow myself once! I tried to go into archery myself but my depth perception is trash, XD They're sturdy I'll say that.)

Kaladin tilted his head.

(Yeah also longbows and recurve bows take a lot more practice to shoot then a compound bow.)



Thomas shows Kaladin his longbow, "If you'd like to try and pull it back you may as long as you put an arrow in it and keep it down range."


"That would explain the arguing that I overheard between Luner and Blue."
