Immediately, men stood from where they had waited, weapons level and trained on Luca.
"Get back with the wolf!" one growled, motioning with his weapon.
Meanwhile, David said, "I figured as much. Shall we settle this the way we did when we were kids?"
"Very well," Lyra said, shifting to humanoid, the snare falling off her wrist.

As Luca runs past, one of the men slams the butt of his rifle into the back of her head, sending her sprawling.
David settles into a low stance, both paws glowing brightly.
Lyra crouches too, and her paws glow as well.

The one that had hit her grabs her by the hair, and stabs a needle into her lower back, injecting a paralytic.
David lunged at Lyra, and flung her to the ground, but she grabbed some sand from the ground , and tossed it up, at David's eyes.
