"But I don't mind it when you act like yourself! I would much rather you act like...well, you rather than me."

D tilted her head a bit,brushing blond hair from her eyes. Her golden eyes seemed slightly confused. Usually others wanted to see something familiar and normal...not like her.

"I like you the way you are," she said quickly, noticing the stare she was getting from D. "I don't like it when people change for someone else."

D looked from her form to Kate for a moment,realizing what she had said,then she relaxed. She seemed less in pain as her tail and usual lower half position came back. "I-..D not want to upset Kate."

"You won't upset me if you try to be like me, I would just prefer you to not try to please other people by changing yourself in any way. I like you just the way you are," she said, beaming at D

She smiled,her tail wagging and she let it. Her cheeks where colored faintly in soft blush that showed her relief and joy. She'd only known that she had to change to fit in out of the lab she'd escaped from and getting a job like other people was her first step. But with what Kate said,she felt better about it and it seemed less of a need to her now. "Thank you."

She shrugged. "There's no reason to thank me, other people are just jerks. They can't accept anything different."

D tilted her head curiously at the new word. "J...urks?" She wasn't used to to many new words often,so her tail wagged more as she bounced a bit at the new word.

"Yeah. It means people who are rude or mean, or just plain sassy, you know?" She tried to explain the word the best she could

"Ah...J...jerks." She said,nodding in understanding. She took it as the main meaning and silently repeated the word till she knew she could do it without deepening the cut in her tongue.
