She wasn't very worried with the banging coming from her siblings cell. The guards never were that patient. "Don't upset them anymore. You never know what they'll do." She had stood up and spun around on the pillow a bit, soon making herself comfortable again. Except this time she was lying down.

"Yeah, alright." She returns to where her pillow had once been. All that was there now was a pile of stuffing and bits of cloth. Boreal lays down and crosses her front legs, rest her beak on them and wrapping her tail around herself. She was still too antsy to sleep and continued watching the people outside through the viewing glass.

(it's no problem, just trying to juggle a few things at once here (irl too) and still get an idea of setting without feeling like I'm hijacking that from you, lol.)
Jen crouched down to eye the feline now that it had calmed down and turned away after a moment of stern silence. Punk was about to get what was coming to it. That'd sure take care of that smug look on its face. Maybe a day without food for good measure.
She straightened back up to continue on her patrols, tapping a button on her chest to radio down to the science lab.
"Hey. One of you. Put me in line to Doc. And I don't care if he's sleeping, wake the fool up. I don't know who he thinks he is thinking he's better than the rest of the staff."
She almost spat into the radio, holding her tongue just enough to avoid a reprimand from her superiors.
"I am speaking. State your business already, Jennette. The entire lab can hear you, do not waste our time." The moth replied back over radio, his normally cheery tone much more direct and firm around the guard. His patience was almost as limited when it came to her.
"Doc, ya mind taking care of this stupid bird already?"
She squinted through her helmet to read the name printed over a display on the glass. "Think you guys named it Boreal or something. Thing's got the bright idea to start screeching around feeding times now and it's making it real hard for us to get anything done. These helmets aren't soundproof, ya know?"
"We'll be on our way shortly." Jean-Marc shut off his own radio before she could retort with any more nonsense. He smoothed down the bristling fur on his forearm and rubbed a bit of bleariness from an eye. Bitter as usual, that one. Excellent start to his day. He pulled his labcoat off the chair he had crashed in, throwing it on as he made his way out of the research lab and up to the holding cells.

Boreal heard the guards talking about her but didn't pay much attention to what exactly they were saying. She lifted her head and shook it, letting her crest of feathers raise before sitting up and starting to preen her wing feathers.
These guards, always so grumpy. It's not my fault they don't feed me enough. She thought, still watching the guard crouched nearby. Whats a girl got to do to get some blueberries? A salmon wouldn't hurt either.

Jishii heard commotion outside the cells, and it didn't seem too far away by the sound of it. Her eyes narrowed as she stared into the darkness, trying to get inventory of her room like she did every day. They had smartened up, taking away any sleeve of light, any vents, everything was smooth concrete or metal around her. The door had at least three combinations to access her. The only way she getting oxygen was through tiny holes on the ceiling, or at least that's what she had assumed.
It sounded like some of the other experiments were acting up, and the guards had probably called someone down. If she could just get them to open up her cell and take her out, she could try to escape after they take her restraints off. She thought of ways to get their attention, before settling on the classic "bash her head against the floor until someone came down".
The couldn't just let their prized experiment die of a simple concussion, right?
So that's what the human lynx did, she made as much noise as possible. She kicked, she slammed her head against the wall, she rattled on her shackles, anything to draw attention to her cell.

The hybrid had started to get bored. There wasn't much to do in a cell. Though it was possibly better then being grabbed by a guard or tested on by scientists. She had let out a whimper and changed her position a bit. "There isn't much going on today, huh?" She was sadly mistaken when she had heard one of the cells being banged on. One of the experiments was acting up and she was almost worried with all the noise being mad. "What do you think could be making that much noise?"

After a while of you making a racket, a higher ranking guard comes to check on you. He opens the door and light from the hallway pours into the cell. From what you can see he has a stun-gun, just in case you act up.
He pulls out his walkie talkie and says into it, "Can we get a scientist down here? The plant-cat thing is making noise and it might hurt itself I don't know." He waits for a bit until an answer comes through.
"Yeah, I'm coming. Sedate her an I'll take her out for testing."
"He looks at you before muttering, "10-4," and he starts walking towards you cautiously.

Frustrated by Doc's blowoff, Jen typed a note onto Boreal's cell display for another skipped meal. Two of the guards snickered in her passing as food was being prepped and brought up by the bin to be dished out to the experiments.
"That one really getting to you, lassie, huh?" One crooned with a bit of a jeering laugh.
"Hate to see you around the ones in the high security wing." The other male guard elbowed her as more thudding echoed from just that direction and his radio kicked up. "Speak of the she-devil, she's at it again." He griped under his breath and took off to investigate the racket with the others.
Jen just sighed and and took off to the staff break room to get some coffee before she was roped into anything else. Maybe another cup and she'd have the nerve to even deal with this job today.
Doc stepped into the holding area, looking over the cells as he passed, careful not to interfere with the guards and their feeding duties. It was always a matter of precision, something he knew well from his own past experience. This recent batch seemed especially wary of their testing. It was only a matter of time until something broke loose again, he surmised. He stopped at the end of the hall to the one cell occupant currently being still deprived of food.
He sighed at the note and reluctantly cleared it off the poor animal's cell display, making his own note to provide the subject with a small enough meal to maintain its vitals. 3 days of starvation was quite long enough, Jen. He knelt down beside the glass and held the back of his hand out for Boreal to observe and gauge his intentions.

Jishii narrowed her glowing yellow-green eyes at the guard who finally responded to her racket. The side of her head bled from where she had slammed her head into the wall. The light hurt her eyes as they tried to adjust to the amount of light suddenly streaming into her cell.
As soon as the guard started moving towards her, she scrambled back towards the back of her cell in an attempt to act afraid. It was a lie though, she needed the guard to get as far into her cell as possible. She took note of the stun-gun, and she wasn't a fan of those things. They stung like crazy.
"Don't you dare touch me." She snarled, eyes flashing dangerously. Most guards were surprised at her ability to speak English, because most of them assumed that she was born here. Jishii was taken as a child and shipped here to be doomed as a mere experiment. She became less than human.
