If youre doing the tutorial, you should have caught a 2-visible trait pet to serve as a mate for your starter (One of the tasks is capturing a Sylesti.). So unless you sold or released the pet you caught (Which is a possibility, being that you are currently Level 30) you should have one, or at the very least, will soon. These were my first two pets:
