I completely understand, it is the struggle of the game to have enough gold. I would advise to keep working on the storyline. Eventually you will be able to farm areas that give better rewards :D

Yeaap pretty much! Luckily I played this game several years ago, so when I came back and started over with a fresh account I knew what I wanted/needed to do.
