The only thing he was aware of was the pain that seemed to radiate from every muscle in his body. It hurt to breath, to even open his eyes to any extent. But the longer he sat there the more accustomed he become, which in itself dulled the pain. As the pain died away though it allowed for his mind to pick up on something even more annoying, a faint whispering that seemed to surround him. It was faint, almost like the white noise you hear when a room grows too quiet, though it seemed to never have an end even if there was another sound to cover it. No matter how closely he listened he could not tell what the voices were saying or even how many spoke at once. It was when the door to the room opened that he slowly opened his eyes, narrowing them as they adjusted to the light within the room. The bed was covered in plain white sheets, the over blanket being a creamish color. The smell of disinfectant filled the air, as did a slight chill. Low voices could be hear coming from the hall and the surrounding rooms as people walked back and forth. The man that walked in was dressed in a pair of blue scrubs, a few dozen pens it seemed weighing down his breast pocket. Oh no...slowly he cast his glance down to his chest. Sure enough the plain white button up he had wore the day before was now replaced with a hospital gown, which happened to be light blue.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Ahad. How are we feeling today?" The nurse asked setting the tray he had been holding to the side as he set to preparing the IV injections and whatnot.
"Confused for the most part." Myles answered feeling very uncomfortable in this situation. For one he was half naked in an unfamiliar place, secondly he didn't rightly recall how he had gotten there, and to make matters worse he was hallucinating! The longer he looked out into the hall the more black ink like shapes he saw. Some of them sat on people's shoulders, others simply followed them. But if he looked away they vanished for a few seconds before reappearing.
"That tends to happen with lightning stricken patients. Let's see...the file here states they we received a call from 6287 Prince Street concerning a man that appeared to have been struck by lightning while on the roof. Does that help any?" The nurse said placing the clipboard he had picked up aside again before going back to his work. Myles stopped to think for a moment.
"That's right, I had gone up on the roof to get a better picture of the lightning..." He said after a moment. Yes, and there had been that-that thing that had attacked him after that.
"Well you're very lucky to still be alive, let alone as unhurt as you are. In fact we couldn't find anything that seemed out of the ordinary, even your blood sugar was fine. It truly is a miracle." The nurse was silent for a moment as he finished redoing the IV. "You should be fine to go once the doctor makes sure you are well enough to be released. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask." With that the nurse left, closing the door behind him. Myles sat in silence, staring up at the ceiling was he did. Fine? How could one be fine when they saw creatures as he did? Even as he stared at the ceiling he could see them. Smaller ink like blobs cling to the ceiling, some moving every now and again. The longer he stared the clearer they got, the more scared he became. He wished they would go away, that he wouldn't see them anymore. As if they had heard him they slowly disappeared, sinking through the ceiling. Maybe he was just tired was all...

After some time seriously freeking out on what was happening he came to the conclusion that somthing was wrong with his brain. There was no way he could walk thrue stuff in real life, right? He then proceade to drag himself toward the nearest hospital, stoping evry time he feel this 'shift in space' kind of feeling. He was somhow unaware of the scared look on the face of the people walking around him as he was flickering in and out of existence.

Arrived at the hospital his first reflex was to screem in panic at the receptionist, without any answer from her has he, of course wasn't visible. She probably assumed that this was someone esle in the waiting room. The more he tryed to get an answer out of the worker the more he was getting scared of the lack of aknowledgement and of course the more his powers were spacing out, brutaly sending in and out of the reality. To try and calm himself he enter a room at rendom, slaming it shut in hope that someone somwhere notice him. There he preaty mutch colapse against the door, a bitter laugh escape his lips, it was funny how, for the first time in years he actualy wanted to be known, to exist in the eyes of others.

Veronica was dreaming. In her dream, a part of her knew that she had been struck by lightning, but her mind brushed that thought away. She sat on the edge of a sandstone cliff, a sea of sand whipped around by the wind below. Several tall pillars stood in a half circle around where she sat, her legs dangling over the edge. As she watched, one crumbled and fell, in slow motion and the sand sprayed up like water. She knew this was a dream, and that she should wake up. But, another part of her argued, why wake up? Her physical body might be dying, or already dead. She laughed at the slightly morbid thought, her red hair swirling around her.
Another pillar crumbled.
"Where am I?" she wondered aloud. "Or rather, what is this?"
"Nonbeing, which is to say, everything." answered a lilting, musical voice from beside her.
For some reason, she was not surprised to see the woman who joined her on the cliff. Her hair was black as night, and her skin pale as death. The woman's face was turned away from her, but she seemed at ease watching the everchanging landscape.
Veronica glanced at the sky. It was dark and lonely, without stars nor sun nor moon.
"And where is nonbeing, exactly?" she asked the woman. Yes, she could be content to stay here forever.
The woman laughed, the sound sending shivers down her spine. "Time, child. This is time." she said, pointing.
Veronica followed her gaze and saw scenes glowing above each pillar, swirling curtians of light. Some she recognized - scenes from her other life on earth. Others she knew of - history. But most were not. They were blurry, and the faint colors often blurred and jumped. She nodded slowly, then pointed at one, far clearer than the most.
They both watched as a hooded figure walked up marble steps, somewhere Veronica knew but couldn't put her finger on it, but wwhy did it matter?
I am so small, so insignifigant! She realized. And indeed, she was microscopic to the huge, majestic landscape of death and destruction around her.
She returned her attention to the person. They reached stone pillars and stepped between them, just as the tower next to it collapsed, the timeline upon it winking out. The person extended a slim, pale hand - Female, Veronica noticed disattachedly. The hand brushed a pillar and a violet film spread over it from the person's fingured.
The woman beside her cackled, and she looked over at her. Finally the woman turned her face to her, but it was not a face at all. Instead, the woman had a swirling black vortex that seemed to suck everything toward it. For the first time since arriving in nonbeing, Veronica felt a twinge of fear. But she managed to tear her gaze back to the timeline. The purple-black haze covered everything now, and began to glow.
"You are powerful, girl." said the faceless woman. "When you explode, girl, make sure it is felt across worlds."
A dark smile spread across Veronica's face then, and she watched as the person drew her hand away and lowered her hood, revealing dark red hair. Then the whole thing exploded, terrible in it's beauty. And the person turned around slowly amid the burning destruction and death. A smile graced her face, matching the one Veronica wore, as though she could see the duo watching her.
Because the person, she realized, was none other than Veronica Westfall herself.

Veronica woke up gasping and sweating on a hospitial bed, but the place she was in looked like anything but a hospitial. She forced herself to calm down and slow her jagged breath. She took a moment to familiarize herself with her surroundings. A large cresent desk was in front of her, and there were several other beds arranged in a row next to hers.
"Good, you're awake!" called a cheerful voice, and a woman in simple nurse's outfit breezed over to her. "How are you? What do you remember? Do you need anything?"
Nica poened her mouth to reply, but she seemed to forgeet how to talk until she was able to rasp through a swollen, sandy throat, "Water."
The nurse nodded, perfect blonde curld bobbing. "Of course." she saind, and busled off. Her vkision flickered, and she lowered herself back onto her pillows. Something about the nurse bade Veronica dislike her, whether it was her perfect hair and makeup, her haughty tone, or some intuitive sixth sense.
Then she retrned and handed Nica a plastic cup of ice water. Then she sat down on Nica's bed and made her hiss with pain.
The nurse's eeyes widened and she jumped back up. " Oh my g-" she cried, but a cool voice inturepped her.
"Why ddon't ou take a break, Isabel? I'll handle Veronice."
They know my name, Nica noted with a shock. How?
Another woman leaned over her, with deep brown eyes and dark golden-brown hair.
"How do you feel?" she asked gently, righting the cup of water Nica almost spilled on herself.
"Terrible. Sore. Like I've just been struck by ******** magic lightning."
To her surprize, the woman laughed. "Probably because you have," she smirked, then held oth a hand for Nica to shake, which she did, though awkwardly.
"I'm Samantha. Sorry about Isabel. She's ... new." she said, though she looked like she wanted a slightly stronger word to use.
Nica nodded, then rasped, "Are there others? Like... me?"
Samantha nodded, and pointed at a man a few beds down. "Myles Ahad.. Same case as you."
Nica frowned. "Lightning-stricken?" she asked. The world spun around her as she tried to sit up to get a better look.
"Woah!" called Samantha, pushing Nica back down. "By all sciences and physice..." Samantha's voice faltered. "You and Myles there should be dead."
Veronica, for some reason, wasn't surprised. Then a disturbing thought occured to her.
"How long have I been here?" she demanded, then burst into a fit of painful coughes.
When she was done, Samantha sighed. "You've been in a coma for two weeks." she said bluntly.
Veronica was stunned. Two weeks?!
Samantha nodded. "We already ran tests on you while you were out. You seem normal, except..."
"Except what?" Nica demanded. Smamantha sighed again.
"It's the same with Myles Ahad. I sould let Dr. Altman know that you're up, and he can explain."
"No need, Sam." a cool male voice said, along with the sound of sliding doors, like the ones in grocery stores, opening. "I'm here."

Blue sat up. She could barely see anything. She felt something beneath her. It felt like a bed, but not her own bed, more like a hospital bed. My class! she shrieked, believing she had slept in too long. She tried to find the phone to call in for a substitute at least till her vision came back and she could get to her classroom. She did not find one and instead fell off the bed. Her head rushed with pain. She pulled her knees up to her chest and began to cry. I knew I shouldnt have... wait, what did I do last night? she mumbled. She rubbed her eyes, which didnt help much. Agh! Where is that stupid phone? she growled. Her emotions changed quickly from worried to angry as she stumbled to her feet.

After a while he grew tired of watching the ceiling, though fear drove him to not be able to look away. What if they came back and killed him? The thought scared him. He didn't want that to happened, and this seemed to be the only way to keep those things at bay. His attention only deviated when the door to his room opened, the male nurse returning with a tray of food. "Here you are Mr. Ahad. You must be hungry, after all you were out for nearly two weeks." Two weeks?! How?! That meant that his application was due, today in fact. He became panicked then, struggling it sit up though as he went to move none of his limbs seemed to answer. What? Oh sh*t was he paralyzed?! How was he supposed to function if he was wasn't able to move. "Easy, there's no reason to get upset. Here let's get up up alright?" The nurse set the tray aside then, helping him sit up. After a few attempts he was able to slightly move his arms again, though it felt distant and he had trouble getting it to do as he wished. "Don't worry, many find it hard to get back into the swing of things after accidents like these." The nurse smiled. With that he took the tray in hand again before sitting down on the edge of the bed. "Here." He offered, dipping the spoon into the applesauce the cafeteria had provided before offering it to Myles. His eyes narrowed and he refused to eat what was on the spoon he was offered.
"I can feed myself." Myles answered sharply, refusing to be fed like an infant. It wasn't anything about pride, just that it was embarrassing. "And I'm not hungry at the moment, is there anyway I could get my computer back? I have an important job application due but midnight." The nurse gave an almost disappointed look before setting the bowl aside and putting the tray on the bedside table.
"I'll go see if I can find a power strip for it." The nurse said before leaving the room again. Again the room was full of the slight whispers that he now seemed to hear. Maybe it was just the medicine that made him hear these things, after all there are all those warnings on the bottles. That must be it.
'You really are dumb aren't you?' a hissing voice said into his ear. Quickly he turned his head finding that there wasn't anything there. What? The whispers had stopped now, the room falling deadly silent.
"Who's there?" Myles asked reaching for the tray. Shaking he wrapped his weak fingures around the fork. "Show yourself!"
'Alright, you asked for it though.' The voice hissed before the black shadow like figure appeared at the foot of the bed. Again the four brilliant red eyes gazed at him, though this time it had taken on a human like shape. 'Have to say Myles I could get used to this.'
"Who are you?!" Myles nearly yelled, holding the fork out in warning. His arms were shaking from fear. What was that thing?! It looked strangely familiar, though he wasn't able to pin point where he had seen it before. Then it dawned on him, the shape looked like his own shadow. It had the same hair as him, the same body build, even the same outline of clothes as him. "H-how?"
'Me? Don't be silly, I'm you Myles. That is now at least. Here's the deal Myles, you helped me now I'm here to help you. I could give you unimaginable powers, powers that no one else could stop, but the price for such powers is rather great. In return I want your soul.' The figured gave a large toothy grin, its eyes narrowing into thin red slits. 'It's not like you will need it anyways.'
"Are you nuts?! Stay away from me! There's no way in h*ll I would give you my soul!" He lashed out, throwing the fork at the figure though it simply hit the wall behind it.
'Think about it Myles, when you come to your senses I'll be here.' With that the figure disappeared, the pain suddenly returning to his body as it did. Myles winced in pain curling up in the fetal position as he did.
"Mr. Ahad? What's wrong?! Who were you talking to?" It was the voice of the nurse, the steady hands helping him sit back up again. All of his limbs throbbed, the movement again becoming stiff. "Easy now, just try to calm down alright? Now telling me what happened..." The nurse said with a kind smile. It took a moment for the man to find his voice again between breathing heavy, and the ringing in his ears.
"I-I thought I saw something though it must have been my imagination. Then the pain came back. I-I'm fine now." Myles lied. He didn't want to raise any alarm, in fact the sooner he got out of here the better.
"You sure? I could get you something if you need it." The nurse offered before standing.
"I'm fine, thank you. Though I would still like my computer and camera if you don't mind." The nurse nodded at this before again leaving the room. Once the other man was gone Myles let out a sigh and laid back in the bed. W-was he really losing his mind?

He keept banging his head against the door ever so often as he feel the insanity of his situation sinking in. He had manage to get into an hospital room while screeming his lungs out for help but no one knew he was there ... no one knew he was existing ... no one would notice him at all no matter what ... this thing, this insane power of his was allowing him to be out of vew and out of reach it was like in that old story, someone find a ring that was making them invisible but for him it was even stronger, he was like a hacker in a multiplayer game. A hacker or ... a admin, this was his life so it was his game, after all life is a game and he got the highest rank for some odd raison. Now, he just had to learn how to make it work at will, it should not be difficult he just had to keep hitting the door until somthing happen and that door stop being there for him.
